Hello,
I'm gonig to be setting up a couple of large Gallente POS' in quiet lowsec.
I will be running reaction on them, but not moon mining.
Considering that there are very badly defended POS in the same system, how much defense should I put onto my POS.
and what types?
Thanks!

Put few medium and small guns online (I prefer lasers), few more offline to use when tower will exit reinforced mode.
Join Eve-Online, meet interesting people, grief them. |

Take it down and store it in your hangar.

Train up an alt or two in Starbase Defense Management. Coordinated POS gunnery can be very potent.
Also, use hardeners... ECM batteries for general annoyance too.

A large POS requires a lot of time to reinforce, so it is rarely done as a 'spur of the moment' thing, and any group deciding on doing so anyways will likely bring sufficient dreads to RF it quickly. Put on a scram, a couple of mediums guns (spread them around to make warp-ins inconvenient) and perhaps a web. For defense you are screwed, unless you can convince a competent club to hotdrop your enemies for you. Keep in mind that most mercenaries are a huge waste of ISK that you could better use to buy new towers.

In low-sec, dreads will take down your POS with ease. So, the best bet is to anchor them on a worthless moon and your chances for your POS to live past payoff will be much higher.
http://www.eveonline.com/iNgameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=817184 <-- This has some decent, but possibly outdated setups. But - I wouldn't waste too much time thinking about it. Just make sure that it is a profitable installation. Otherwise, don't bother. ~~ Tethraa KaiSuun |

I have become a fan of the 'prickstar' method of PoS setup.
3x shield hardeners for the to resists at 0 2x shield hardeners for the to resist at 25 1x shield hardeners for the to resist at 50
6x each ECM type what guns you can fit after your productions modules are installed. I prefer going for medium and small hybrid rails. 2x scram and web if you want, I tend to leave them offline and save them for an actual siege.
This will not defend against a coordinated force but it will deter most small roving gangs and greifers.

On a reaction POS there are better things to use your CPU on.

Edited by: Induc on 01/07/2010 17:47:23 If you're only going to do reactions with the POS consider putting it up in a C1 with a static highsec. It's much safer, and the only limit on the number of POS's you can setup is how much fuel/materials you can bother hauling in a T1/T2 indstrial.
In low sec, you're just playing with chance, if someone wants to take down your POS they will take down your POS.
