We all see the road you are about to go down. New system for giving skill points that is being implemented. Do not make the WOW mistake and sell out the game by letting people buy SP. Some of us have molded and waited to get where we are currently. In my case 4 years. I do not think it will be fare to those of us who have spent lots of time and money to get here and have some new guy with a cc number surpass my skill level. Just don't do it!

Nothing is keeping you from doing the same and dropping your own cash into skill points. I can well imagine that they would implement it in such a way that you can buy a SkillPlex, so to speak, that can be traded on the open market. That way the ancient four year olds who have loads of ISK can buy skill points, and not have to spend any hard earned real cash.

One of the CCP guys posted during all that SP hoohaa the other day, that they have no intention of changing their current marketing model. Or something to that effect.
however someone posted today that the Chinese Eve was now selling nural-remaps!!!!
(I really should bookmark these things)
DONT DO IT CCP.... EVE has become a great, award winning, MMO due to the way the skill system balances out for rich/poor and power/casual gamers!

*Bat phone rings* OP: *picks up Phone* Hello....What is it Commissioner? *tense seconds as OP listens, making acknowledgments, and nodding his head, as if someone on the other end could see it* OP: I understand Commissioner....Wait what? CCP did what? To the forums! ---------------
Keep up with the current news. CCP already said they are not doing micro transactions for SP. Of course, one could argue that Power of Two is a limited offer micro transaction to buy a second account equal to 3 months of subscription for 6 months total time (3 months free training, or free SP! OMG! WORLD IS ENDING!). Of course, it would be nice if one didn't have to spend training 6 months basic learning skills, basic tank skills, basic core (CPU/PG/Cap) skills, basic navigation, et ectera rinse repeat ad nausem that apply to all basic ships before the character is comfortable to fly. One thing about other MMOs is that if I got bored with one character (waiting on BS 5, really want to do something else during those 30 days ) I could log off and go play something else, but EVE's long skill grind towards one character requires several weeks of SP dedicated towards one aspect alone (Targeting for example if trained to 5: Targeting more ships 4 Days, Targeting Faster 4 days, Targeting Farther 8 days, Targeting even more (multi-tasking, dubious ) ships 12 days) is equivalent to grinding out dungeons non-stop. Add up all the basic core skills and you wonder if its worth an additional 15 a month for several months for an alt you can't really use for awhile (admit it, we all hate restarting absolutely weak ) or just boring grind that last 3 to 5 week prerequisite skill for that ship we really wanted to fly that had multiple other prerequisites just to unlock the skill book as well as the basics core skills so it doesn't blow up when you undock it, then the many weeks for the final level 5 of that ship. The option to buy a character is good, so long as I don't feel like I am wearing someone's dirty underpants with Lando Drizzit Han'Solo DarthJedi XXXact'femaleanatomy Skywalker scrawled on the waistband .
CCP in their infinite wisdom (So say we all!) could put out the option of buying SP with an associated harsh penalties (higher cost RL cash, locked to account so it can't be sold; limited to rank 1/2/3 core skills that are not T2 ships or advanced trade/industry skills; throwing out ideas ) and still make a buck without ****ing off its older player base if only they tried. Heck, even the option to buy back the SP you lost off BS 5 when your clone hit expiration date yesterday and you forgot to check would be harsh on the RL wallet, benefit everyone, and pay the CCP staff more so we don't get nearly useless expansions (Tyranis, I am looking at you. Mining is still boring! and I don't want to play SimCity/Facebook games in space!) Apocrypha was a good example of a expansion with more pros then cons, Dominion was 50/50 (stupid NPC corp tax, enjoy you discounted T1 navy hulls and choke on the kill mail from my subsidization to pay for it after you blow them up), and Tyranis took to long to get off the ground with command centers 2 weeks after release, longer still to remove npc goods, and consistent extractor bugs. Hope the next expansion is a couple more new ships, new skins, and cool NPC fluff while finally put to rest the uselessness of walking in stations outside of Jita (as if huge fleet battles were not bad enough, imagine The Central Market lag )

Wow! That makes excellent sense!
So, in addition to removing the learning skills by giving everyone the functional equivalent of 5/5, let's just give everyone +5s in all the skills like Engineering and Electronics, because that's stuff everyone should learn anyway!
Hell, let's just get rid of every skill except for one level of skill per weapon to qualify for them! Waiting is boring -- I wanna shoot my guns now!
