So after some hemming and hawing, I finally up and got a Power of 2 account instead of resubbing on my six week old account whose sub expired back in March. I figured I might as well restart and put more focus into my skill training so that my points aren't spread over the place onto things I don't use.
After some consideration of the type of player I am, and what I'd like to do, I figured that for these six months or so I could do scanning/mining and mission running, with industry/ research as a side-venture. No Planetary Interaction (it got a little boring when I tried it). Maybe some mild PVP if a corp takes me in that runs that sort of thing (though I've applied to an Aussie based Corp/Alliance focusing on mining/Industry).
Could anyone help me figure out what I should aim for in terms of skills and what I might be able to accomplish in six months? I'd love to run use an exhumer or whatever it's called and fly battleships, but I'd like to know what I can reasonably do during the six-month period so I don't get my hopes up.
I'm a Minmatar capsuleer, by the way, and I'm currently looking into following either advice from the thirty-day plan of Please Ignore at https://wiki.pleaseignore.com/wiki/Basic_30_day_Plan or the sixty day plan I found on reddit at http://www.reddit.com/r/evenewbies/comments/pto38/starting_eve_in_2012/c3sv8a0 but if you have better ideas, I'd love to hear them. Thank you! |

I would recommend Ice Mining.
Basically for a power of 2 account, getting up to ice mining is super quick and efficient, whilst it's not the most efficient isk/hour, its consistent and straight forward, do it with a few people whilst talking on voice coms and its actually quite fun too.
You can get into a Procurer in 5 days, or a Retreiver in less than 8. You can be a perfect cycle time icer miner in little over a month and overall the isk/hour isn't that bad.
Once you have a character doing this, you can either choose to start building up all their support skills (Electornics, Engineering, Navigation etc), or prepare them for ore-mining by finishing up Mining V, Refinery efficiency V (for the Tech 2 crystals).
No matter what direction you go in the end, I've always liked having ice mining to fall back on, especially as a straight forward way to build up some capital after a break from eve. |

I prefer to keep the industry-related stuff on a separate character to the combat skills. |

This would be what I'd do, but I only really want to maintain and pay for one account. Multiple character juggling is not fun for me, either. :( |
