Ok, this has nothing to do with it, but I just read the caliber of big Autocanons ... lol!
That's a 800mm Shell... An autocanon should completly destroy anything with that kind of caliber!

with small and medium autocannon, just use emp ammo, or a mix of pp and fusion both setups do excellent sheild and armour damage
with small autocannon, 125mm gatlings are best, because of tracking and rof. at 1 to 1.5km (500m optimal, 4k falloff) they perform best
with medium autocannon, 425mm perform well at 5km range, and emp ammo (again, a multiple of optimal, but still well inside falloff)

nice pic
1400mm should really be wrecking any ships, the pure speed and size of those should put a whole in any hull

As said by several people above, 425s work best at ~5km. I find that 220mm Vulcans work much better against frigates. There seems to be a very sharp dropoff point in the tracking curve and the 425s are past that if you use them against frigates.
Quote: Is this weird or strange? Should I be doing more damage with my turrets? Right now I would say my launchers outclass them by a LOT.
This was true even before the tracking changes, afterwards its blatently obvious. That said, assault launchers are better with autocannons since you're going to be close to the target anyway but still give you the reach to hit the cruisers that want to orbit you at 20km.

I used a Oversized AB with 220's AC's Rupture just before the propulsion changes. It was quite effective (skills do help a lot). Used rockets and armor tanked. The midslots also used a webber and tracking comp, or scrambler if pvp.
The secret to hit frigates seems to be not to orbit. Just approach the rats. Going in a straight line to the frigates has two effects, makes the most of your tracking on approach, and since the rats tend to keep their optimal range they move away from you in a straight line, again positioning themselves to be killed.
This works well with medium ACs, Large ACs dont hit a frigate at all.
