Tell me what you think, what you like and do not like. What would you improve or change? What should I focus on training from here?
I never have and never will have any alts. I currently live in highsec but I am getting very sick of it. I used to be a heavy trader, mission runner, and miner in that order. I am looking to move to nullsec and try a life out there running anoms and ratting and such. Maybe a little mining and building in time.
BTW, feel free to post your own and continue this topic. |

I do not understand.

This was supposed to be for my skills, not my profile pic. I went for as realistic to my actual face as possible but my face/head is much more round and the Eve character builder simply did not have the options that let me do a realistic portrayal of myself. Also I think the character builder sucks in general and miss the old profile pics a lot. I do not care what my avatar looks like at this time.

Electronic Warfare Drone Interfacing IV (for extra drone control range) Propulsion Jamming V, Interdictors IV, Heavy Interdictors IV (you already have Destroyers V and a racial Cruiser V, not training this would be a waste) Leadership V (every pilot should have this so he can take squad commander positions) Bomb Deployment III, Torpedoes IV Biology IV, Nanite Control III, Neurotoxin Recovery III (boosters are not sth you will always use but they come in handy at some times and are required for some fleet concepts such as ahacs) Interceptors IV (you already have the prerequisites) Minmatar Frigate IV, Minmatar Cruiser IV, Minmatar Battleship IV Amarr Cruiser V (so you can be an awesome Guardian pilot and skip training laser skills)
bonus: Minmatar Frigate V Minmatar Cruiser V Recon V
(PS: you are the first subcap character I see with all shield compensation skills at V)
I am actually training Med Energy Turret to V as we speak. I am going to be working on the gun skills. I want to be effective with Missiles, Lasers, and Hybrids. I care nothing for Blasters or Minmatar ships. I also never have and never will use boosters. I would like to have all Caldari and Amarr sub-cap ships to V though and be able to use everything for all races up to Battlecruiser so in time all those ships will be at V as well. Once I accomplish that I will think about a carrier if I feel I have a reason to have one.
I have plans to eventually train into a max skilled stealth bomber so bombs and such are already on the list. I also want a Nighthawk to eventually replace my Drake so Leadership V is coming sooner rather than later as well. I also want to get into Interdictors of all types so those are coming as well. The only reason I even have the Interceptor skill to train at all is for that reason.
I already fly a max skilled Basi so I do not see why I would want a Guardian but I would be happy to have that explained to me.
Thank you for the comment on my shield skills. My armor skills as far as I know are all V as well for the same reason. About a year and a half ago I got fed up with loosing ships or having them threatened so I respeced and focused all my training efforts on fixing the suck with all Int and Mem based skills. I meant to actually finish the Prop Jamming and Ewar skills along with rigs and other such things but got fed up having crap ship and combat skills and switched. I basically figured out there were more Int and Mem skills left to train than Per and Wil ones in total. My goals were to get started flying anything I desired and stop hitting whatever my enemy happened to be at the moment like a little girl. Once I am finished with Ship, Missile, and Gun skills I will switch back and finish what I started with the Int and Mem skills.
Thank you all for contributing thus far! |

I got out of trading simply because of the tedium. I asked myself one day "Why am I doing this?" I thought about it and could no longer come up with a good reason. I no longer really need billions of isk to buy ships and fit them because I already have those ships fitted. Eve Online had become Second Job Online and thus it was no longer worth it. So I stopped.
I am bored with Eve and bored with highsec, I want a change or I may make a much more permanent change and unplug Eve altogether. I already did it once last year because of Incarnage and the only reason I came back was because CCP seemed to be getting their act together and actually doing the kind of **** they were supposed to have been doing for the last two years.

Savage your face up a little quickly. before Karkaroph does it for you.
I am unafraid of Karkaroph.

I wanted to make my avatar a smiling happy person. That was not possible with the ****** character editor at the time it was first released and I was forced to use it. It did not look like lipstick at the time and I do not care enough to torture myself by trying to make a picture of me prettier. I am not that vain.
Theodoric Darkwind wrote:Your skillset is weird to say the least, you have overkill in some areas but missing key skills in others.
Your tanking skills are overkill (not necessarily a bad thing).
Your gunnery skills are literally crap (you obviously fly mostly caldari missile boats)
You really dont have any ship skills beyond Caldari, but you could get into a Chimera and phoenix fairly quickly (you have good support skills for a carrier and missile dread, but you really need a cyno alt to fly capitals).
You are missing Caldari offensive subsystem 5???, that is leaving dps on the table with your Tengu
Your current skillset would get by just fine as a carebear in nullsec (tengus are probably the most popular ratting ship in null), however most non-renter null alliances expect you to PvP and you are lacking in pvp skills.
The offensive system skill is 15 hours away form being level 5. In truth though the only thing I really use my Tengu for is sneaking around in null to ship small items worth lots of isk. I have other ships for pve combat that I prefer. Why have a 1.5 bil Tengu when I already have a 2 bil Navy Scorp and a 500 mil Drake that will do everything the Tengu can do but better.
I really fly nothing other than Caldari, mining barges, and haulers/freighters. Again this is something I am already working to correct.
Again I pretty much avoid pvp in all forms though I am working on the skills to correct this. I can be in a very effective Bomber in a week or so.
And I am looking more for a renter based alliance in null. That is of course assuming I do not just do a minor refit on the Tengu or ship some other vessel out there via Black Frog and just wing it solo.

Then that can be corrected within 2 days if need be. I only trained logi to fly in Incursions to begin with and all of my large fleet experience comes from there. |

Then I will not fly with them. I have the option to not fly with a domineering jerk just as they have the option of not flying with me because I will refuse to automatically worship the ground they walk on.
Quote:I also never have and never will use boosters.Because drugs are bad?
No because I think they are an unnecessary, temporary waste of isk.
Quote:Once I accomplish that I will think about a carrier if I feel I have a reason to have one.Thought about suggesting one but its utility depend greatly on where you will end up and you have a lot of other holes to plug that are imo more important. If you plan for a carrier then make sure to include JDC V. A carrier is a big suitcase that allows you take a reasonable selection of ships and fittings everywhere you go - if your alliance is nomadic, sends you frequently on deployments or doesn't have working alliance-level logistics this is invaluable. Carriers are also used to feed capacitor to dreads, shoot battleships with sentry drones (occasionally) and suicide themselves in a vain attempt at saving some idiot's ratting Nyx - none of these are good reasons for getting a carrier imo.
So carriers can work like a combat style Orca? I like the idea of one ship being a giant suitcase for everything I would need. That is actually news to me and you now have me considering a carrier eventually.

I also want a Nighthawk to eventually replace my Drake so Leadership V is coming sooner rather than later as well. The actual ability to fly a stealthbomber with mediocre skills tomorrow is preferable to the promise of a max-skilled one in a year. Your FC doesn't neither want nor care for a Nighthawk pilot, he just wants people to fill the remaining squad leader slots already.
Again, then I can be in one in 2-3 days, all an FC would have to do is schedule a roam and I could have one usable and fitted easily within that time.
Quote:The only reason I even have the Interceptor skill to train at all is for that reason. right, how could an interceptor ever be useful...
Oh I know there are uses for them in PVP. I just would not have a reason to fly one when I could be more effective in several other ships. I would of course be willing to consider one if I had a good enough reason.
Vera Algaert wrote:Quote:I already fly a max skilled Basi so I do not see why I would want a Guardian but I would be happy to have that explained to me. I don't know... maybe so your "max skills" (many of which are shared between Guardian and Basilisk) actually benefit your corporation/alliance when the FC calls for an armor fleet?
Then I will train them if need be. Everyone I have always flown with has always wanted shield logi, even in my current corps mission ops. |

Quote:Thank you for the comment on my shield skills. that comment was not a compliment.
I fail to see how it could not be. What is wrong with having extra skills that are useful if you use them? I actually use those skills. I did the same with armor tanking skills and I am training up Amarr ships right now to use them as well.
Quote:About a year and a half ago I got fed up with loosing ships or having them threatened so I respeced and focused all my training efforts on fixing the suck with all Int and Mem based skills. You have trading and industry skills on a combat character and yet you preach about min-maxing to the point where actual utility of skills takes second place on your list of priorities compared to (mostly meaningless) SP totals. Consider my mind blown.
Actually you have it backwards. This is a trading and industry character who is now training combat. Until I respeced I actually had a little over half of the missile skills I have now.
I have little to no experience in nullsec and in pvp. I made this topic to attempt to find out any holes I need to plug and start plugging them. I have no idea what the priorities are out there!
Sorry for the multiple posts. I had some trouble with all the quotes and this is the only way the forums would let me do it. |

I wanted to make an update. I have taken all this advice under consideration and if you take a second look you should see some of the worse errors in my training have already been corrected. The rest are following as we speak.
I have found a new home in null and am moving out there tonight. I am really looking forward to this new life and play style.
Thank you all for the help thus far. I am still open to suggestions. |

It is on the short list of upcoming skills to train. I have no ships that use torps and have no trouble fitting anything I wish so it can wait for a handful of other skills first. |
