Fit your ship for a bit more defense. Clean up your overview so its easier to see incoming danger. Stay aligned to your safe spot. I don't really understand all the hand wringing over this event, yes it sucks getting blown up, but just be smart and you should be fine.

CCP Judge: Consider yourself a whiner! ReveR DeBooN: Bartholomeus Crane, do you enjoy Hulkageddon? CCP Judge: You donÆt have to reply to that whine! Bartholomeus Crane: I'll reply to the whineage! [to ReveR DeBooN] Bartholomeus Crane: You want a reply? ReveR DeBooN: I think I'm entitled. Bartholomeus Crane: You want a reply? ReveR DeBooN: I want the truth! Bartholomeus Crane: You canÆt handle a reply! [pauses] Bartholomeus Crane: Son, we live in a game that has spaceships, and those spaceships have to be ganked by players with guns. Whose gonna do it? You? You, Carebear #999998? I have more fun in this game than you could possibly fathom. You weep for your Hulk, and you curse PvP. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That your Hulk's death, while tragic to you, probably saved subscriptions. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves PvP. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about on the forums, you want me to PvP, you need me to PvP. We use words like Gank! Tears! and Traversal! We use these words as the backbone of a life spent ganking something. You use them as a punchline! I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a player who rises and sleeps under the blanket bought from the very profit that PvP provides, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just whined some more, and then cried more carebear tears on the forum. Otherwise, I suggest you buy yourself a combat-ship, and fit some weapons. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to. ReveR DeBooN: Do you enjoy ganking miners? Bartholomeus Crane: I do the PvP I ... ReveR DeBooN: Do you enjoy carebear tears? OK. . I'll bite, since my character is half miner/half PvP oriented. You can't be upset at Hulkaggedon. People have been ganking miners for a long time now . . . this just gives those players an incentive to do it. And only for a few days. But when Hulkaggedon is over, people are still gonna gank in high sec. It's part of the game. I don't see why you should get so upset over it. Just make sure you got insurance. . . . a$$ whoopin insurance. . . . . cause you're about to pay . . . a deductible.(jk) Really though. Part of the game. Just look both ways before you undock.

But I do agree hulkageddon's a lame excuse for skill-less "pvpers" to gank some carebears.
Perhaps but in real life if it was known there was some criminal threat specifically targeting Semi drivers, for example, They would be stepping up patrols ratehr significantly during the time in question.

Makes eve stable?! Uh, which part of eve would that be? The market? The political landscape? The client itself? No, none of that sounds right. Maybe because a stable game, a game with no conflict, would be an utter bore to play and CCP realize this.
Maybe you should pull your head out and follow suit.

Personally being a "Carebear with teeth" i dont see the logic behind hulkaggedon(sp?). They waste money suiciding there ships with the only outcome is that mineral prices and the price of there next ships and modules are going to go up. I understand the war against macro miners but because most pirates have brains of equivalent size to a small rodent... they just charge in guns blazing against anything that resembles a miner.
But hey. Its a game, fun overrules logic. But i think this "Miners Unite" would end HORRABLY. Miners are renowned for having overly expensive ships with crappy fits and the inability to fly them. By gathering many miners in a system with the intent to PvP you are basicly puting up a big "ú2 buffet all you can kill" sign for pirates.
Well... anyway Pirates you guys have fun picking on the defensless barges and exhumers. Miners... remember the first rule of eve, If you cant afford to lose it DONT FLY IT!

Too true. I'm not picking sides here, as a manufacturer this whole things sounds quite delicious (Rule of Acquisition 34: War is good for business). I just wish I had a catalyst BPO. Anyways, I think it would be cool if there was a mechanic to allow players to preemptively patrol a belt and stop gankers before they fired (aside from trying to suicide them first or wardeccing half the known universe during this even). it would be quite hilarious: ganker come in for an easy kill, a couple other players show up and the would-be ganker finds himself floating in a pod while those who foiled his plan have a good laugh at his expense. -Xindi Kraid: Delivering acerbic wit and scathing comments with just a dash of 'stab you in the eye' |

I think the logic behind it is:
A) The ****ing insane prizes they are giving out B) The carebear tears that will come out of it C) The extra km's D) Why the hell not, pirates can boost their already massive ego

You know I get A B and C.
But how low does your self esteem have to be that blowing up a defenseless ship in a video game raises it?

Here are your options: A.) Keep feeding us hulks and carebear tears (because they're SOOOOOO tasty) B.) Set up a long training skill and go do something else. Americans, its summer time. Go camping. Its nice outside. C.) Get a frig and go learn how to PvP so you can join in on the next Hulkageddon (I have a theory that these carebears are just frustrated beta males who are too afraid to PvP and thus lash out at those who DO know how to PvP). D.) Go do missions. Its quite profitable. E.) Keep feeding us hulks. (I like this option a lot.) F.) Go play WoW.
Take your pick.

Originally by: ReVeR DeBooN Easy target. Worth a prize, Care-bear <---Makes me sick as a capsuleer. Eve and CCP seems to forget that miners an haulers make EvE as we know it stable. We do the "boring" tasks cause maybe were trying to escape the harsh and violent aspects of real life. But of course, @$$holes in EvE are persistent in making war a reality. "Lets wardec a mining corp".... is what they say. Yeah your a real bad corp then. CCP if you read this you need to step in and stop such activities as "hulkageddon". Personally, I pilot a Hulk and have put alot of time and skill into providing eve with the minerals it needs to wage war AGAINST OTHER CORPS and TO EXIST." I know I am not alone in this post. I also will not stand by while fellow miners become victims in this IGNORANT attack on miners that assumes to start on the 8th and last a week...all should join me as we stand together and say NO.....we will no be attacked and intimidated!!! IT is our time for we ARE what makes EvE possible.................Eve can be more than this. Most of us will never experience space travel.. It a sad idea that i must cope with each day. But eve can provide us that escape... One day. maybe war will be obsolete to people who don't deserve it( miners). CCP and players of eve.....its enough. what happens when we throw down our hulks and come for you? What then? WE ARE RICH!!! All I say is take it easy on the "care bears". Cause whether you want to admit or not. we need them.we make EvE STABLE.....LET IT GO....(Hulkageddon to last from the 8th till the 15th) Miners UNITE!!!
You a$$h0l3 you made me snort into my coffee!!!
Seriously though, I am bookmarking this for later amusement.

Stop mining for a week, do something else, if enough miners stop, the pvp'er won't be able to afford bullets.

Look, I'm not much into PvP. I really haven't suicide ganked much as my 4.25+ sec status shows. That said... there is a beauty to Hulkagedon. Name me another MMO where players can create such a game wide event?
See to me, this exemplifies the beauty of Eve. It's so much a sandbox that you can have a bunch of people band together to create such an epic event, and the GMs don't mind. Seriously, I doubt you can do this in that many other games.

Yeah, just vow never to produce the ships they use to gank hulks. Of corse, some may produce them themselves or get them from corps/alliances. But you never know. It may make a ripple or two.

Rever just sounds like a whiny little carebear to me. Sure, I may be in the same kind of boat (being a Fac War mission runner) but I don't go crying to the forums everytime someone comes in and ruins my mission running. Wake up and smell the spacedust friend, Hulkageddon is here to stay and hell, I might even look for a few Hulks myself.
