Actually i think this game is totally biased against pirates. Miners, hauler pilots and missionbears can go about their business totally afk and not pay any attention to their surroundings while they rack up isk.
When is CCP going to listen to the voices of its customers and create an Autopirate setting, so my ship can go round blowing up carebears while I go read a book or go out shopping or something? ---------- Who, me? |

Good sir.
I am shocked that you received such treatment! I will see to it that this is dealt with. I cannot tolerate the thought of piracy. In MY eve? Nevar!! Space is fun! |

Originally by: Rautha Dreox Once again Eve is built for Pirates, Wimps and Gutless Wonders. Why don't you EVE PROGRAMMERS get your head out of your asses and actually force Security Status to really function correctly. Let me explain it again so you can understand. A Pirate with a -10 Security Status pod's into a HI SEC area. (AT THIS POINT CONCORD SHOULD HAVE SHOT THE CRIMINAL) But no, instead he has a ship sitting in space for him to which he jumps into, ganks some new player and gets podded only to just sit in his pod in HI SEC still with a -10 Security Status. What the HELL is Security Status for if we pilots with +5.0 Security Status get NOTHING for keeping a positive standing? GIVE US SOMETHING FOR BEING THE GOOD GUYS WILL YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You get all kinds of good **** for having 5.0 Security Status...
Mission Rewards and Loyalty Points what else do you want? A personal escort (Pretty sure dancers and prostitutes drop in missions as well)?

Thanks, OP. I'll remember how hugely overprivileged I am the next time I'm trying to blitz through hisec in an interceptor while praying my system doesn't hang.

For those who do not yet understand: Piracy is hard, you are punished for it, whole regions that you cant enter without being shot, no ability to go to hisec to do a little shopping. ANYONE can shoot you, anywhere and pod you with no penalty, gate guns wont defend you, you cant hisec mision for 50 mill an hour, no easy isk. NO SAFETY.
Piracy is Eve on hard mode. Why do we do it? BECAUSE WE LOVE IT! BECAUSE IT IS HARD! BECAUSE MOST OF ALL, WE LOVE YOUR TEARS AS YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT HOW HARD EVE IS! You want to try the hard version of Eve? Go -10.
Maybe there should be penalties for being +5, maybe in lowsec there should be gangster NPCs who shoot you for being +5, maybe in lowsec sentries shouldnt fire on you if you aggro someone with +5 sec? How would you like them apples? No? Keep playing on easy mode and stfu. Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing. |

Originally by: Kohana Chayton Eve is a PVP Centric game. It is designed to allow you (the player) to shoot them (the other players). It gives you tools that are designed to allow you to do exactly that. If you are not capable of learning, and using those tools to your advantage, you can expect others to do so to your dis-advantage.
YOUR Failure to understand the core principle of eve (shooting each other's ships up) is not CCP's fault. That is how they WANT their game to be. Rather it is your fault for not adjusting yourself to match the game designers choice of game mechanics.
So instead of crying about how the game designers didn't design you a little space based slice of heaven, why don't you adjust yourself to the game and stop demanding the game adjust to you. Remember, YOU made the choice to play a game that is designed to let other players shoot you, and vice versa. CCP didn't hold a gun to your head and make you play.
Your logic is flawed; CCP sends mixed signals.
EVE offers a tantalizing glimpse of a game that I and the topic starter and a minority of players would like; a world of PvE in safe space. EVE has missions where we don't have to engage in silly PvP, EVE has hi-sec space where consequences are supposed to be harsh enough to offer safety to players...
Yet while it offers you a box of chocolates with one hand, it stabs you in the back with the other; allowing pirate loosers to sit around and kill other players, because it makes them feel like big boys who's real lives don't actually suck.
So don't blame a person for wanting to cling on to certain aspects of the game that CCP itself offers us or teases us with. Don't feign mystified confusion when you see someone complain about being unjustly blown up by a pastey nerd like yourself.

Not safety, less danger. There is a difference.

Been over this one in numerous topics already ... if you dont like the game, why play it ?

There is no being 'unjustly blown up' unless exploits are used.

I like this bit, coz in RL I have a well paid job that I love but is hard work, I am married with two kids (therefore seem to have had sex at least twice) and own my own home... Why do I like to blow people like you up? Because it is fun and it relaxes me after a hard day at work, its even better if I get hatemail coz that gets logged so everyone can read it and laugh too. Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing.

I would just like to point out that EvE IS what the real world would be if your actiopns didnt have real consequences. From a miners point of view suicide ganks have too little consequences for the ganker, on the other hand messing around with it too much would definitely be killing gameplay eperience for some players. (Now I would certainly love to see Insurance payouts removed from concord kills)
It all boils down to how you react to the things that happen to you in eve. Now, I lost a Hulk to your lovely hulkageddon, I was ****ed, but hell, I realized that this poor suicide ganker is so bored that he has to blow up miners. That leads to some really ugly conclusions about his moral standards and integrity. ;-)

Assumptions, not conclusions. The data does not support that conclusion.
Highsec aint supposed to be safe, just a little safer. You should realise that you lost your hulk the second you undocked, and if by some miracle you manage to dock up again, count your blessings, bow a few times to the east and say a few hail mary's. ========================== Nothing is true, everything is permitted. ========================== |

There are no mixed signals, it's just you fail to understand the game you are playing. Here I'll try to explain it to you.
You are playing a Player vs Player game regardless if you choose to shoot defenseless little NPCs or steal Ore from random belts, while in the relative safety of high sec.
You do however consent to PVP the moment you log in the game, with this consent you agree that someone like myself might take great offense to Ore theft or NPC pouching. You consent to the fact that someone like myself, might decide to try and stop you from doing these selfish actions.
Ore theft is serious business and it will not go unpunished. If every one and their three alts could just go around stealing all the natural resources with only their own profits in mind.. Well sir what kind of universe would we be living in?
Not to mention the murder of countless NPCs and just think of their crews and their families, and all they are to you sir is a small bounty prize for your own selfish profits. Not to mention the vast amounts of litter that is left scattered by these countless ship wrecks.
You sir are just lucky more people don't take up arms to protect the undefended and attempt to save our natural resources. I think I'm gonna keep my eye on you..
