When a man of "unique" talents is saved from a savage beating by two mysterious gentlemen, he finds that perhaps being saved is more like making a deal with the devil. But does he have a choice?
"The Resurrection Men" is a new EVE Chronicle written by CCP Abraxas.

But that alone can make a huge difference in interstellar combat. It may turn the tide of entire battles."
Ah, so that's where the +5% per level to Large Hybrid Turret damage on my Megathron comes from -----

OCD... rising... must resist... urge... to copyedit.
As usual with Abraxas's chronicles, I have no idea what just happened and I love it.
Have H and B just used Rokan's brain to analyze systems? Or will his wetware get slightly "repurposed" into new equipment?
And the artwork is awesome. Hats and trenchcoats? Leather chairs and vague, abstract art? It's like the 1950s all over again.

Nice Chronicle, enjoyed reading it, altho like a few others this one really seemed like the first chapter of a greater story, any chance that we could have more of Rokans story in the future? Or is this the earliest part to go with a couple of earlier chrons I seem to recall involving involving someone involved with design/research, which were published in reverse chronological order and some while apart..... Can't recall the ones I'm thinking of, now re-reading most of the chrons to try and find them :)

very very nice
This is exactly the sort of story I want to hear more of.
I'm just wondering if there is more to the title of this chronicle than first seems. Is it just a reference to them saving his life or could it mean the hacker from the story is in for some cloning. ------------------------------ God is an afk cloaker |

Same here:
Quote: "Am I going to get to meet the capsuleer?"
B and H looked at each other again. B said, "Mmm ... I suppose that isn't out of the question."
He will meet the capsuleer, in form of implant ^^

Very nice chronicle. The only thing that I didn't like is that Abraxas used "gingerly" 5 times. If it's a conscious stylistic choice then I don't get it, if not - thesaurus to the rescue :)

Well, the most benign interpretation of events is that the capsuleer is just creating an alt account, or whatever the in-game term is for that.
The more...pessimistic interpretations do imply he'll never regain consciousness. At least, not as a human.

Why do I have the unquestionable belief that this guy is going to be plugged into a capsuleer's head in a few days?
Nice chronicle by the way. -----

I believe the giveaway is the title "The Resurrection Men". Our hacker will be reborn into a +x% hacking implant.
Which I would want, by the way :)

BTW, the thumbnail of this story for the "EVE Chronicles" page has this story misspelled as "The Ressurection Men." Can someone correct this?

Originally by: Chronicle B gave H a look, who said, "It's a check, yes. We want to see if your brain can handle the pressure.
He liked their funny speech, and the odd way they emphasized things. "Like a capsuleer," he said.
B filled his glass while H continued, "Yes, precisely so. Capsuleers interface with modules in very much the same way that we're having your body do now, albeit at a much simplified level."
Maybe they are just trying to create the neural interface for Dust's mercenary ? |
