If Hulkageddon has a goal, it must be to make as many miners quit the game as possible. Mission Accomplished.

I'm pretty sure the goal is to drive the prices of hulks up. Someone is making a killing on these events.

OP: I doubt very seriously anyone has quit that wasn't already looking for an excuse to emoragequit. As for purpose of HG, I personally think the first one had reason behind it, but now it's just a gank fest. And this coming from someone taking part.

I think the secret tin foil hat purpose of Hulkageddon is to make people who didn't belong in this game in the first place leave. If you don't understand that highsec is safer, not safe. If you think you deserve anything (safety for example) without any effort. If you think that you have the right to mine, but others don't have the right to gank, both of which are within game rules and mechanics. Then you don't belong in this game and never did. HG just sets that right and shows you the way to the door.
Never participated in HG, probably never will, just sick of people that believe that the way the play the game (mining) is the only way they should have to, and they shouldn't have to interact with anyone else in an MMO

This, yes. Sooooo many are clueless about what this game is about. Even when someone explains it to them they still wanna say "yeah, but"...

Sheesh what a lame post....whaaa...my hulk went boom.....
It happened to me last HG, I dusted myself off bought another hulk....then mothballed it for the duration of the event....nuff said I learned my lesson. But to quit? Come on....if you do not have access to level 4 agents...then maybe that is your problem....but if you can not afford to lose a hulk, or any other mining barge vessel....DONT USE IT TILL YOU DO. Then if you can for crying out loud....don't fly it now....

fantastic. I hear other games require you to consent to pvp, maybe you should look into those instead of crying.

I've spoken to many miners and industrialists who are enjoying Hulkageddon. Watching their competition get whacked while making money off of mods/ships they stockpiled.

EVE is a sandbox about choices and consequences. It's about people and their relationships, trust, and the lack thereof. I'm proud to be sponsoring Hulkageddon to the tune of 3 Billion ISK. Why? It's a player-run event that helps to not only make EVE a more interesting place to be, but shakes things up for those who have done nothing but mine in the same belt or sit in the same gatecamp for weeks. It's not only fun, but it keeps people on their toes. This is EVE after all. ______________________________

in high sec the police come to the aid of anyone attacked by another player that has not been war decked.... so why arn't the police coming to the aid of the miners that are being ganked.... according to the rules of eve you can't get away from the police in high sec... if you do you sre cheating...... so why havent the gankers lost any ships during hulkageddon in high sec......ARE THEY CHEATING THIS TIME

It's about hitting the weakest link sadly.
Why mining vessels and industrials are so paper thin after centuries of warfare is kinda sad really.
Originally I think the goal was to drive out macrominers but it doesn't work really. It probably does discourage more legitimate miners than macroers.
It has some major backers based on prize sizes so it could be someone with hulk/mackinaw etc bpos helping to fund it to keep prices high on their products :)

think before you write/hit the post button .... .... etc.
I'm assuming that you're referring to CONCORD when you say the cops, well the answer is that they are.

I'll take you seriously for just a moment and assume your simply ignorant of what's going on. The attackers are losing ships, left and right, every time they gank someone, to CONCORD. Because CONCORD doesn't post killmails you'll never see these, but it is happening. The problem is people assume it's CONCORDs job to keep them safe, it isn't, CONCORD is there to punish people. However, they only punish these people AFTER they've done mean things, like blow up miners without a wardec.
So ummm.. to answer your question, they are, everything is the same, working as intended, etc.
