I was wondering when Iand do level 4's and not lose my ship :P
My raven build is this:
High 6 Arbalest cruise missile launchers
Med X-Large Shield Booster II 2 Ballistic Deflection Field II 1 Heat Dissipation Field II 2 Shield Boost Amplifier I
Low 2 Capacitor Flux Coil II 3 Ballistic control system II
Rig 3 Large Capacitor Control Circuit
Hopefully I can do this.
Need your advice, Mikaleon

You really want to get cruise missiles to 4 as well as the missile support skills to 4.
Drone support skills at 4 as well as maybe gallente drone spec 4 is a good idea as the scrambling frigs can take a while to kill with low skills.

Do your first 10 or 20 with a partner. Until you get familiar with specific missions.
Key Word: Insurance.

Personally I really wish I had the ISK I spent on insuring mission ships back. I started doing L4s solo in a domi around 5M SP. I was always afraid of losing it and kept the insurance up, but to date I've never lost a mission ship.
Really though it's almost impossible to have a mission ship popped in L4s and below. Scrambling frigs almost always die near instantly, so just clear them out first and you're free to warp out whenever.

Edited by: Estel Arador on 15/07/2010 20:11:52 If you're worried about losing your ship, why have you set it up for cap stability (or duration)? What good is having plenty of cap when your defences aren't holding up?
That and Flux Coils are the work of the devil. Compare a Cap Flux Coil II to a PDS II (benefits in green, drawbacks in red):
Cap Flux Coil II: increase in cap/sec of 21.6%, 10% less total cap PDS II: increase in cap/sec of 15.4%, higher initial total cap (17% compared to Flux Coil II), higher shield regeneration, higher initial shield HP, more powergrid, less CPU needed.
In short: if you're worried about survivability, use PDS.

I couldn't agree more about the PDSII. I use em on my LVL 4 raven, along with a L shield booster II, and never have any probs tanking. Swap the coils for PDS II and I'd say you shouldn't have a problem with LVL4's. Always make sure you control the agro while your getting used to em of course.

This I don't understand, and it's not just you; I've heard it from many folks. I take my domi with heavy drones into all lv4s, and they usually take almost no time to pop frigates. Once in a blue moon I get a fast frigate that takes a while, but it's rare. It is actually a waste of time for me to switch out drones mid-fight, and I just let my heavies take all comers. Now, I guess I may not have done all lv4s, being only 1.5 months old, but nothing has been remotely difficult yet even with a straight-heavy-drone loadout...
Maybe the point is that you need lights when you use sentry drones?

You're using a droneboat. The raven can't even hold 5 heavy drones, and doesn't get any bonuses to them. T2 lights are an enormous upgrade from T1 and, while not precisely what I'd call "necessary," are beyond worth training for any ship above the cruiser level. It's incredibly handy to be able to murder smaller ships in a few seconds while you're working on the bigger direct threat with your main weapon system. It gets ewar off the field that much quicker, which makes you less annoyed at the very least, and sometimes saves you if you have to warp out for whatever reason.

Edited by: Balcura on 17/07/2010 22:06:50 There are a few things I would look at in your setup, but you should be ok if you manage agro properly.
Highs - standard
Mids - I would only go with 1 boost amp and use 4 hardners for each mission
Lows - swap 1 of the balistic controlers (57% effective) for a damage control II (60% hull, 15% armor resists and an aditional non stacking nerfed 12.5% shield resists) Then dump the flux coils for PDS II's Also the CCC rigs are great, but running an XL booster there is another rig that makes you more cap efficent, Large core defense safeguard.
I wouldn't swap out the CCC you've already spent the isk, but a though for future ships and fits.

With missile support skills at 3 and no tank skills i blitzed most of them(Not Blockade and Worlds Collide) to be honest its all in the cap a meta four sheild rep 4 BCU's, and 4 hardeners are important. My secret Cap Boosters they help new mission runners a lot. Keeps you repping till you run if its too hot for you. I had drones 4 and 2 mil skill points in all the wrong places.
Hints: Learn Spawn Aggro form Eve Survival, Target the Battle Cruisers first(weak tank good DPS), Take out the Webs and Scrams, Always move away from them. Not lost a Raven yet and that was four months ago.
6 Arbie Cruise Launchers
1 X-Large Sheild Boost 4 Hardeners 1 Heavy Cap Boost
4 BCU 1 DMG Control
Good Luck

Energy Systems Operation / Rank 1 / Level: 3 Shield Compensation / Rank 2 / Level: 3
Bad.
Cruise Missiles / Rank 5 / Level: 3 Caldari Battleship / Rank 8 / Level: 3 / SP: 265,034 of 362,039
Bad, but not so much.
Improve the above skills 'least by 1 level, train Launcher Rigging, Target Painting, Evasive Maneuvering and you're all set.
As for the fitting, i'd definetly go for capacitor boosters a la Liang. They're not such a big deal and even if you don't have a feel for it, you will when you get more comfortable running L4s.
