Ships like the Interbus shuttle, the Zephyr, the Opux Luxury Yacht, and the Guardian-Vexxor are little more than window dressing. It is my personal belief that the promotional ships should become available for purchase with real money.
Eve already offers luxury items, like avatar changes and PLEX cards, for real money, so why shouldn't these ships? In a game like EVE, ships like these would not offer any unfair advantage, as is so often the case in F2P MMOs. Other than the novelty value, or an extremely small tactical advantage, there would be little reason to spend money on them. But people would buy them.
And you're already charged for the Interbus Shuttle, so I expect the trend will continue. _________________

Quote: extremely small tactical advantage
Guardian-Vexor can field 10 drones at the same time compared to the 5 other non carrier ships can. That is a large tactical advantage, unless you are in the drones can't do **** camp, then you are sadly mistaken. It also was not a promotional item but a Alliance Tournament prize.

We already pay for EVE as a subscription, on the basis that CCP will never unbalance the game in favour of those who are rich in real life. Free to play MMOs only sell items as it's the only way to keep a game free, yet draw in an income.

Have you actually looked at the ship? They're UNBONUSED. So extremely small sounds about right, especially since the dronebay is too small to actually take a full 10 medium and small drones!
But I don't think they should be buyable, all the same. It wouldn't be fair on the people who won them to have their prize devalued (Ha! How naive to assume anyone keeps these things, and doesn't sell them for untold billions!)

How long would it be before they ran out of ideas for so-called "unique" ships? Given that unique means there is only one of them.
If 20 people buy Guardian-Vexors, or Asterias (or w/e tf it's called), how are they unique?
I guess they could just change the name a bit. That'd make it unique.

I'm not against but well what would be the purpose of "unique ships"? Being the subject of a perfect killmail probably?

Not supported. Unique has a pretty distinct meaning. Selling ships, especially for reallife money is not meeting that definition.

OP, you're what's wrong with eve --
Nothing is worthless, you may have gotten it for free but it still has an inherent value

You already can by buying plexes, selling them for isk then purchasing the ships on contracts anyway. ---

You already can
If i turned up at CCP HQ and said to the circus master - here is 5 million dollars. I want a unique ship please
Then you would get a ship
The only thing you need to discover is the amount of cash needed to buy ccps soul - and judging from certain other of their actions recently you will probably find its less then you might think.

Well someone saw the amount of cash that Blizztard got from the winged horse thing and had an idea.
Taken for granted that CCP gives us (some) shineys for free. Others you have to work for, like you know win an alliance tournament.
Interbus shuttle was just a reskin, would still like one but too much on contract atm. 100+ mill

Edited by: Gavjack Bunk on 16/07/2010 14:16:54 Somebody blew up my ship the other day.
I know not what advantages he had over me, and frankly neither does anybody except them.
Nor does it even matter. If you could simply purchase items, I would still have lost my ship and not necessarily have even known whether they had simply purchased it or not. And it still wouldn't matter.
On the reverse side, there is nothing finer than destroying the ships of people you know are paying a high price for that, should I ever get to hurt somebody flying around in an untradable ship that I know they purchased from CCP for $50, as that is the only place they could have got it, I would be happy to know that I did it, and that I stuck them for $50. And that Dust514 had itself an extra $50 to play with. Ooop! Little bit of politics there! - Ben Elton
In fact, I would make a point of dedicating my next fap to it. I really would.
