Presently to max all skills to lvl5 in all areas it would take around 21 years on one account. CCP keeps adding new skills so that time keeps on increasing. I know you can train multiple accounts and specialize which is what I presently do but honestly CCP dont you think this is ridiculous for new and old players.

No obviously you dont but however to be Maxed out in certain areas you do gain a certain advantage whether it mining, industry, trading, mission running, and PVP combat. After nealry 3 years of playing EVE ive certain maxed out skills that give me an advantage in certain profession but in others im woefully inadequite. Do I or Will I bother with PI no I wont so i wont bother with them. Did I cross train, not until recently after tyrannis destroyed my profession of miner and industrialist. I'm not concerned about who's got more or less sp's than i presently do as after awhile you'll get to know it doesnt really matter especially in pvp where player skill and ship fitting is the key.
What I am saying is more skills = less specialisation and for my alt easier kills which has never cross trained as of yet. Its a smart move for CCP however because to become specialised = more accounts.

Oh I get eve very well and i like the game shortly on my alt ill have maxed all skills for minmatar for BS and under. My post was rhetorical In regards to the adding of skills. ie. Dust comes out and you'll need new skills like plantary comuntication, planatary bombardment, personel transport, etc. Incarna comes out and maybe it'll be station asassination, Bomb making skills, station interaction, station trading, bomb dectection, etc who knows what CCP will dream up and all these skills take time and that time takes away from a player maxing out ship flying, attack & defence skills. So more acounts will be needed to be competitive. In the future you may have to recruit specialists into corps/alliances because as someone said its impossible to do it all on your own.

Which is exactly the idea of the current system: no one can do it all without multi-boxing, and even then you can only do so much without the need of a strong compliment of others.
Actually this will only increase the holly SH.. from new players and a bigger push from them for more leveling and a bigger FO from older players who have seen the test of time. Presently as some of you im sure know that to get into a 0.0 corp/alliance you need x amount of SP and a creditable KB. 10 years down the track who know but you may need 3 accounts with unbeleievable skills just to be even considered.

The real reason for this thread was to test the community, Well i think its time CCP opened up all 3 slots so that all are able to train simutaniously.

I repeat: No. Why?
I'll tell you why because PI, Dust, & Incarna will have some sort of SP's attached all these skills take you away from the core of the game Ship Combat whether it be PVP, PVE or any of the skills required to pilot other ship classes.

Edited by: Terrigal on 17/07/2010 18:13:50 Did the quick check of those that replied and the majority are players that were created between 2003 an 2006 and you guys always arc up as soon as the words Skill Points is mentioned and I guess you've a vested interest in not changing a thing and keeping miles ahead of the pack, am I right?

Edited by: Terrigal on 17/07/2010 18:32:38 Tippia you're, I think the youngest created character to reply to this thread being a 2007 char id estimate you'd have around 45mil sp which is great. This char has around 39mil sp my main has many more thats not what this post is about. I personally take my hat off to those that stuck it out since 2003/4 as EVE back then for me where i am was impossible to play and I expect they had issues with it too.
This thread is about the ammount of SP's and the creation of more and more new skills and a need to start new accounts to be able to ustilise those skills to the best of those abilities without detracting the original skill training already undertaken from existing accounts.
