As an actively recruiting corp we find it rather difficult to get people to join up, the main reason for declining our offer being that we are in FW. I honestly don't understand it though...
I know that the outside perception of FW is not awesome, but it's not like you're sitting in a plex all day, shooting npcs. I have probably done 4 FW plexes in my whole EVE life.
I am a casual player with a life apart from eve (sometimes I play the whole day, sometimes I don't play for a week, sometimes I play just an hour,...) and I think FW is being a perfect target environment. You log on, see if your corp is up for any dirty deeds, if not you hop in your prefered solopwnmobile and look for fights, or you roll out a small gang and look for a gang that outnumbers you. I have never had so much fun in a while, flying alongside my corpies...it's not like there is only newbs in FW that dont know what they are doing...
and if you're really really bored you just join one of the big blobs and slug away. it's ALL there to be had...in low sec, just jumps away from tradehubs and all that.
someone care to explain why FW (apart from the bugs and not so well thought out plexing and occupancy system - but who wants that anyway if you can have pew?) is that badly perceived? :D

One reason may be the big standing hit players get towards opposing factions.

Not everybody wants to PVP each and every time they log on. I know, when I get home from work, I just want to run a couple of missions before I go to bed. If and when I do PVP it will be once I have established myself with a source of income that will allow me to replace my ships on a regular basis. Then once I have established an income I will PVP as my time allows me to.
Again, not everybody wants to PVP 100% of the time they are playing. Some people like to sit back and relax for a little bit doing mindless stuff.

Supposedly something was said which led people to think so, but aside from that, just go look at the recent blog post detailing their future plans. If they do have any plans for FW, it's coming well after Incarna and DUST, and all kinds of other things. At the very best it might get revisited in 2-3 years.

well, you can still go to half of highsec to run safe missions. not even mentioning the kaching you get from FW missions. and also theres ...pretty decent agents in low sec too ^^

I believe it means anybody in faction wars for an opposing faction has full wardec rights to kill you. Making high sec even more unsafe than normal.
That is the bigst reason I would not join a FW corp. at least not until I am ready to do some serious PVP.
It is possible that its not actually a big danger that you will meet an opposing FW player while doing your non PVP activities but it is preserved as a risk.

Theres big issues with faction wars, wich are also true of low sec.You join it for daily pvp, its not worth going there for isk, once again doing missions in empire is way more profitable than faction war missions , not even worth mentioning regular low sec missions. From my experience you can only expect loosing isk in pvp even if you do good you wont earn much ,thats not possible to any new players to just loose ships like that without any isk incomes.I dont know what they smoked when they pretended it was for new players to get step into pvp. Look what i have to do in a faction war mission: pick one missions from any level 4 agent in low sec, then proceed 10 jumps and more while avoiding ,roaming gangs, enemy militia blobs, pirate gate camps. Once there if i enter my mission, it becomes a big target in the overview ,last time i took one 3 gangs tried to gank me in less than 30 min . The mission isnt much more easy than a level 4 empire mission, its true sometime you have to pick some selected target but you can only do that efficiently if you have a bomber . If you want to clear it all fast you need a bs , but that would be suicidal to bring one there. So to sum up its slow , extremely risky ,in overall clearly inferior rewards for the huge risks involved. The good sides is cheap faction frigs, cheap lp shop, and good fun once you are accepted by the militia fleets.

You get kicked out of half of empire just so you can go blob low sec . . . of which you can do anyway without the "Faction Warfare" part.
So I ask you, why bother? Why not just take your corpies into Low Sec whenever you want to?

Because there's more actual PvP than anywhere else?
I wish i was kidding. In lowsec people camp gates or lurk for hours just to get their precious little killmail, and most of 0.0 is a lovefest, but in hisec you have people picking fights, scamming, and talking smack 24/7. You cram a bunch of people into a small enough area, there's bound to be conflicts. And don't tell me CONCORD is any kind of help. You can attack whoever you want in hisec just like you can in 0.0, only have to wardec or trick them first.

I wouldn't say that. The first day I joined FW, I made approximately 500 million ISK doing a few lvl 4 FW missions. They are possibly the best source of income (aside from babysitting sale orders all day) in empire, in my opinion.
They are more than worth it to join, just for the isk alone. Especially for those mission runners who want a bit more challenge and reward. Not sure who told you what you currently believe, but they obviously never tried it. FW is an excellent source of income, which you can then throw away to PVP.

Why are you not living in low sec? Why are you not moving there expediently?
And most importantly . .
What do you gain by actually joining FW in any official capacity, over just going to low sec whenever you please and doing what you want when you want to do it?
These are all valid questions pertaining to your Topic. And I don't think I "Missed" your responses. The fact that I am an *** is obvious and by now should common knowledge,

Perhaps I can clarify a few reasons to join FW. One reason, as I said, was the ISK value of FW. Another would be the number of targets vs the number on your side. A FW militia is essentially just an alliance to join, which is controlled by the empire factions instead of players. Similar to any 0.0 alliance, you have lots of people to kill, space you're not necessarily allowed in, and also a fleet you can fight with.
Factional Warfare is, in it's most basic form, similar to 0.0 warfare. The only difference is that it's easier to move about system to system. And lots more pirates to tangle with. Faction War is for those who wish to join fleet battles without having to contend with the inconveniences of 0.0, such as lag, bubbles, no people in most parts of space (no targets for roamers), and the poor market.
I hope this sums a few basics up.
Originally by: Trovarion I came here to ask why FW is not perceived as an option for people looking to be recruited by PVP corps, not to explain anything to a troll.
Mostly because they don't understand. I was the same way as Eternum Praetorian before I joined FW. I saw it nothing more than blob warfare in lowsec with no value, then I joined to give it a try and found it to be something completely different.
Unfortunately, also the fact you're going to be shot on sight in other empires may also be a turnoff for some people, then again you wouldn't want those types of people in your corp anyway.

The few times I've experienced lag in FW, it was very minor. It was still very playable. It's possible in certain other FW areas like Black Rise there is more lag, simply because of the infestation of Caldari in that area, but this is only a theory.

Hahahaha.
ITT: Nullsec players envious of fw's broad range of playable and most importantly enjoyable pvp options ranging from very small gang pew pew in frigs all the way up to massive supercap hotdrops.
All mostly lag free too even in the bigger fights.
ffs the fw corp I am in now gets more regular cap ship fleet action(on a smaller scale granted, but thats a good thing) than most of the bigger alliances with its ranks growing all the time from nullsec players who are dumping the laggy 0.0 fleet blob for the smaller fw fleets.
Now as far as why fw is not as popular as it could be, well, that is completely due to misinformation spread by trolls like the ones in this thread and the lack of commitment from ccp to fix some of the more glaring issues like ******ed standings mechanics and neutral rr using alts in the opposing militia. Still even though we have a rather small community and there are some serious game mechanic issues we are all very dedicated to the game and won't be leaving anytime soon.

How many more mechanics do you need in order to shoot people? The only serious issue I'm aware of is the RR alts. And that's easily solved by killing them.

This is one of the trolls kids. Mark him well.
Are there issues with fw game mechanics? Most certainly. Are they making fw unfun for pew pew? Not in the slightest as we are intelligent enough to work around most of them and have enough imagination to use the free wardec mechanic to its fullest and then some moar. I mean if fw was so broken that it was unplayable then why does fw generate on average the most pvp kills per day in the game when taking all 4 factions kills into account? There is pew pew available everywhere in fw at all hours of the day and its pew pew on every possible level unlike the normal blob only fleets of the major nullsec players. Quit being a jealous nullsec whiner and come join us.

If you want to PvP as your time allows it, then FW might be just the thing for you: 1) You can get fights 23hrs a day in the occupied low-sec regions. 2) In your empire's high-sec you are much safer then with ordinary war-decs, since the faction police goes after faction enemies.
The important part is: you don't have to pvp as soon as you log on. But targets and friendly pilots are available at all times.
I don't know what your current pvp experience is, but in low-sec you are better of with intel or a scout. FW gives you access to both if you want to.

My experience of FW has been generally positive, so much so that I've actually returned to it. I have had some of the most fun PVP encounters there and its certainly worth a bash at if you want some easily accessible pvp without getting cut off from Empire.
That said some of the overall combat can be as laggy / blobby as Null Sec in certain places. The rewards arent great - this is a place to expend a few Tech 1 cruisers for fun, not your faction fitted Navy Apoc.
Provided you don't take FW too seriously its a good diversion for an evenings play.
