Hey people. Can anyone enlighten me or give a theory on wormhole signature mechanics? I know statics re-spawn right away, but what about the other signatures? Is it entirely random, are they more likely to spawn after down time or what?
I've heard that when a you do a signature and it despawns in a wormhole, another one is spawned in another random wormhole, but does this happen right away or after downtime? Have there been any dev posts or discussion of these mechanics?
Enquiring minds want to know..
Thanks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [GNSTR]

My current understanding of it is as that once a sig despawns (for whatever reason - cleared or expired) it will respawn in another wormhole that is part of that wormhole's constellation. I suspect this is why the WH I lived in for a while usually went mental on a Sunday and gave us load of things to do - more people online means more sleeper sites being cleared which means more sites spawning all over the place...
The problem is finding the other wormholes in your constellation...
The funny thing about this sentence is that by the time you've finished reading it, it's too late for you to realise it doesn't say anything. |

Are you talking about the wormholes or the w-space exploration sites (grav/mag/radar/ladar/anomalies)?

same thing really.. wormholes are w-space (u-space) cosmic signatures, so they share the same mechanics I think - except statics of course. I've been monitoring signatures in our wormhole, and have never seen one randomly pop up on a scan all of a sudden, so I was wondering if was tied to downtime or not.
Also, what's the most signatures you've ever seen in a wormhole?
Thanks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [GNSTR]

The most cosmic SIGS (not counting anomalies) I have ever seen in one system was, I think, close to 30, In an entirely unoccupied C1. Throw the anomalies on top and that probably doubled it...
I used to live in a C2 for a few months till someone hired Noir. to boot us out (but that's another story entirely).
Checking the locus on somewhere like dotlan maps will give you lots of info about the system.

I have seen a wormhole appear almost literally in front of my eyes - between two scans with probes I detected one more signature. They definitely spawn between downtimes.

52 probe hits (everything including wormholes, anomalies and assorted mag/grav/rad/lad sites). I counted.

when my corp an i were living in c5 wormspace which was pretty full of stuff to do at the beginning, we had times where we had nothing but our static hole to a c3 for days on end, almost up to a week with nothing to do in our system but farm c3 sites next door and our c5 never really recovered, 1 or 2 sites a day would show up on a good day. we even left a skeleton crew of alts in wormspace and left for a couple weeks to see if stuff would spawn well again and they never really did. our theory was that when sites in our system where cleared or expired, another system spawned sites, and it went around the chain until stuff spawned in ours again.
i think wormspace does have some sort of inter-connectivity and constellations. static holes always respawn immediately after closing, but the random entry side (not K162) don't. also, over the course of months, we'd run into the same systems from time to time. one time i went thru our static hole, scanned everything in the c3, found a hole to a c5, went thru and was back in our system. 2 holes to the same c5.
also, it's my belief that K162 holes don't spawn until either someone warps to the entry side or goes through it. which one it is i have no idea, but i've done the main part of the scanning for the day and later we have visitors from a new K162.
as far as respawning sites, i've never seen one pop up on a scan out of the blue. i think that is handled during downtime.
i've seen 50+ sigs in unoccupied wormspace before, a lot of asteroid/gas belts and anomalies. |
