Ok, so you can fly a recon ship if you want at level 1. but you cant fit a cloak. so whats the point of being able to fly them if you cant even use them as intended? (im talking about the cloaking ships not the force recons.)
Why isnt the cloaking CPU reduction part of the Cruser 5 requirement and not Recon skill. it kinda gives folse hope when your trainign to fly recons only to realise once there you cant acualy fit a ship unless you can recon 5.

Get better fitting skills? I'm pretty sure it will fit at Recon I, it just doesn't fit easily, no?

Force recons are the cloaky ones. --------------- Faction-Militia:Player-Alliance::Newbie-corp:Player-corp |

I fly an arazu fitted just fine with Recon ships at lvl 4. I think you may be doing something wrong. Recon 5 is well worth the time though.

Because the T1 hull doesn't have a cloaking bonus, and because the recon skill tweaks what the recon ship can do (which differ between force and combat recons).

Not to be (entirely) snide butà research before you train?
Oh, and just because Recon is one of those skills that are really worth-while to train to V doesn't mean that you can't do just fine with only Recon IV. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Because spending 20+ days on a ship skill isn't worth it unless you know you'll be flying it a lot?
Anyway, you can fit a recon good enough with recon IV, just have to make a few sacrifices when at the fitting screen.

QFT, however not all Force Recons need lvl 5 to be viable in combat, for instance..I can fly my Pilgrim w/lvl 4 and still fit a pretty decent fit.

I guess you have Energized Adaptive Nano Membranes in the lows. Change to Dark Blood Adaptive Nano or similar (cost like 5mil each) and you got yourself 72 CPU with VERY small drawback. If further CPU is needed use named Stuff. |

OP has a point really, CPU usage of a Covert Ops Cloaking Device II (10000 cpu) at Recon 1 (96% reduction) is 400, which is at least 90% of the total CPU on all Recons. It's actually more than the Pilgrim gets in total.
Pre-req should be Recon 3 at least imo.

Indeed. With decent Capskills you might want to skip that Cap Booster.
The only time you have to perma-run your repper is as long as the enemy has drones out. But if you have a full flight of Hammerhead IIs or even worse, Ogre IIs on you, you want to pop them asap anyway, its not like you will want to agress ships that have a huge Drone bay anyway (well Myrm maybe, but seriously not a Dominix).
The second you do not have to run the repper anymore (and you will not have to with 2 Tracking Disruptors) you are good to go for 4+min. If you really want to use a Cap Booster (can be handy against neuts obviously), just go with a Small one and use Cap Booster 150 Charges (can fit 2 in a Small Cap Booster). A Medium Cap Booster with 1 Neut is pointless. could just drop the Neut for autocannons .< |

its funny how you assume you HAVE to be able to fly the recon incorrectly (level 1 skill level) when you also HAVE to have a cloak.
you think a falcon is useless without a cloak? sure, it functions fine.
But you lose on the 4 levels of +30% to ecm jammer strength (120% bonus to jammer strength) or 4 levels of 20% energy neut (80% neut bonus) so overall, there is no sense to even fly the ships at level 1 recon since you can do better (with no cloak and crap bonuses) with a battleship.
