Tranquility has gone into testing mode following the restart of the server. Initially it was open to players but our Operations team have discovered a database issue which is causing start up problems for players. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
Update 12:00 UTC Tranquility is being rebooted and will go into VIP mode while our engineers check that the database issue has been resolved.

I realize you guys like to get the game back up and running ASAP with the really short downtimes lately (and we players love the short downtimes)... but really, if stuff is going to crash like this because of database issues, maybe it's time to use a bit more of that allocated 1 hour DT to check for such issues beforehand.

When you re-launch tranquility early after the scheduled hours downtime, there is NO EXCUSE for problems like this appearing BEFORE the scheduled downtime period is over....none whatsoever.
Someone needs a kick up the ass for failing to do there job properly.

The fact that CCP have posted an explanation in less time than it took to say "eh, game crash? Must check forums" and click one sticky post is something to be grateful for.
The DT window isn't even over, you have no cause for complaint if you can't play during a scheduled and advertised downtime period. If you CHOSE to try and log back on early, you gambled - and guess what, you just lost. |

Proffessionals would have set up a warning like that:
"Tranquility will go offline for urgent maintenance in 5 Minutes. Please ensure all your internet spaceships, drones, probes and other stuff hanging around is save. See the forum for further details"
Feel free to copy/paste it and use it on the next occasion.

Nope, id just like CCP to use the hours downtime to do what they are supposed to do, then test it before opening everything up.
If i did maintenance at work, then opened everything up early and then had a problem during this supposed downtime period which resulted in kicking everyone off without any kind of warning, id be on the Ol' King Cole.
Surely expecting someone who you pay, to actually do their job, isnt asking too much......is it?

It just let me in its back up. Bet I won't be able to post this for 3 mins, stupid 5 min wait!Edit: no they where just hidden from overview. My drones no longer display green symbol if they not in overview, Y is this?

Surely it's a case of damage limitation, there was a database issue, and rather than spending time working out what damage it can potentially, they shut the server down, and rather than wait for 5 minutes when people could be doing market orders, build jobs etc that they didn't know were going to be completed properly, they shut it down immediately.
It's a lose lose situation, they can't do right for doing wrong, I guess there's no panic button that just affects 1 part of eve, so they can't easily just shut down all the markets, industry etc areas while leaving pilots in space being able to fly around recalling drones and docking or warping to a safe spot.

NPCs also stop fighting because.....
The server was shut down !...
and your ship wont warp back there until you log back in ....

Rose, for a good few mins after I was kicked I tried logging back in and it gave me the server not taking connections message, indicating the server was still up for a few mins after everyone was kicked so NPC may well have still been shooting ya! You would have emergency warped anyway but they may have turned on any expensive T2 drones u left. Correct me of I am wrong,

When the server is switched off. NPC pilots still fly around in what, the space between the RAM slots and the HDDs in a system that has been .... oh forget it. Try this. Train iq > 100
