Edited by: Hulkageddon Jackpot on 23/07/2010 15:24:46 So, after clawing my eyeballs out sifting through killmails, comparing API kills to the griefwatch board etc etc, I can finally announce our winners!
The SUPREME GRAND MASTER of Hulkageddon III is *drumroll*
Sir Phil Macmannon
Not only did he singlehandedly win 1st place individual AND corp prizes, he also won the 4 racial regional prizes, and about half the achievements listed.
Phil will find the following things contracted to him when he logs in later today:
6 billion ISK, 1 revelation, 1 naglfar with skillbooks, 2 panthers, 1 gila, 1 cynabal, 1 FACTION FIT BHAALGORN, 1 firetail, 1 ishtar, 1 phobos and a navy dominix.
On top of that he will be receiving an exclusive hulkageddon t-shirt, courtesy of Azishkr'elhykai Mizamel.
2nd place individual:
Leroxee of the bastards! You will receive a Faction Battleship of your choice (contact Cyber Ten) and 5 rare micro smartbombs
3rd place indivicual:
TheHermit, also of the bastards. You will receive an Ashimmu, a dramiel, and a ton of exotic dancers
4th place individual:
Kri Matar of Final Agony. He will receive 100M isk and a cruor!
--
2nd place corporation/alliance
BANE alliance. They will be receiving 1.35B isk, 3 Abaddons and a republic fleet typhoon!
3rd place corporation/alliance
The Bastards. They will receive 250M isk, a T2 fit raven and a navy vexor.
Achievements not won by phil:
Minerdave will receive a Cynabal for killing a hulk...using a hulk. Easy Lad will receive a Trimarked Tempest for killing the most stuff in molden heath Blutrache will receive a racing stabber for killing the first exhumer.
The random jackpot has been awarded to: Xeronikus!
The Smacktalk prizes are still pending while the jury deliberates.
(edit: donations for the hard work of your generous, overworked and under-loved host, Helicity Boson are of course very welcome )

And great work, yet again, Hel. That has to be a nightmare to organize and pay out.

In many thanks to Helicity for her hard work and amazing market manipulations that she had no part in doing, I've shared some of my profits with her by rounding her bounty to a nice, even 25 million isk. I hope you didn't have it at its previous number for some kind of sentimental value.

I (shadow ballet) claim 1st hulk kill for that bumpy cruiser award thing, unless its deemed as 1st kill on the board not 1st hulk kill, since its vague, in which case no problem bro.

Thanks Helicity for organizing such an awesome event.
I wish we had more events that spanned such a huge cross-section of the player base. Maybe some day the miners will actually organize something of their own. (it is rather telling that the "untrustworthy" segment of the population have such a huge cooperative undertaking while the "respectable" have nothing that can match hulkageddon's level of organization).
ALSO, thanks to the bounty people. I thought you were only going to give 1 mil IF you killed something, not PER each kill.

Wow. That really is a lot of lovely prizes, i have happily accepted them all!
I did not go out with the intention to win this event, i honestly thought that other corps and alliances would use similar methods and trounce me as a result, but it just didn't happen.
Really though, it is not that hard to do. You just need to have the logistics in place to be able to have your ships and equipment all ready to go in the very best places to go about it. And of course the commitment to be able to sit there for upto 12 hours a day, every day.
I wanted to concentrate on ice miners, so i went about over the course of a week and scouted out every ice field in high sec, rating them, and then placing equipment in the best of those places.
Then it's just a matter of having the alts to scout ahead of you, while you are smartbombing one group, you should already have the next set of targets lined up and then you travel there at once, under gcc, in your pod.
Once you get the method down you should be able to undock again in another ship the second your gcc agro ends. You move in a circular fashion, moving from region to region keeping the momentum moving until you eventually get back to where you started.

He did it because he was the only flopping person that participated who actually took the event seriously. Everybody else was to lazy to go out of their way to kill a hulk. A large percentage of hulk never even knew there was a hulkageddon and the funny thing is, they still don't.
Phils performance was the only one that was on par with my standards, given the amount of people participating phil do the overwhelming majority of the work.
While I openly congratulate him from doing it right I must sharply scold those that participated in this even and failed so dame hard. I am sure helicity will back me up when I say less then 5% of all hulks that were active at any point in time during the event were actually killed.
Such a small and minuscule effect on the hulk population is nothing to be proud of as a group. Many players were not willing to spend the money on the ships and fittings needed to take out hulks effectively. Even still those who could do the job were ever so reluctant to do so because a hulk was more then 12 jumps away. Many people gave up after they had a really low security status.
Let us all hope that next time, more people will take this event seriously. "My name is legion, for we are many" |

every indy corp in high sec sent out eve-mails telling pilots to dock up, or switch to cheap ships.
After a few days it became quite difficult to find hulks in space (at least in the areas I usually hang out at).
Granted the number of macro ice miners is still staggering, but anyone claiming that this event is "small scale" is just trolling. It is the largest player event to date.

Hi. I have 1305 willing participants and about 2-2.5 thousand unwilling participants in my event.
That quite easily makes it the largest player run event.
As for you, you have a pretty big mouth, maybe you should show us next hulkageddon then, that you can do better than phil hmm?

Congratulations to Phil Macmannon for hands' down pwning every single one of us in his insane scores.
But, after a small amount of mail to and from me and him, he has made it clear that he doesn't want the HG3 T-shirt.
After mulling this over, then talking briefly to Helicity Boson (dude, lrn2copy/paste even while tired... you forgot an 'a'), I have decided to redirect this honorary award to the man who made this all possible.
The Exclusive Hulkageddon 3 T-shirt Prize is awarded to Helicity Boson for being the cornerstone of this event. Without him, I very much doubt HG3 would even exist.
Organizing a large-scale event like this - as well as the amount of trust we all put into it - and pulling it off flawlessly is worthy of respect. Thank you and I hope you enjoy your present.

Well, I have to admit that this event gave me the happiest moment I have had in Eve to this point. While I did not achieve all of my objectives I got half of them, and a funny video out of it.
Video
The goals were 29 gankers destroyed. (got 34)
- A kill mail for the top person for the event, Phil was to hard to chase down. Damn him!
- Kill Belleum Eternus, he was not active enough.
- Kill anyone from Meat Sausage Express, also not active enough or available at the right times.
- Survive, both the Battle Hulk (now somewhere around 50 kills and counting) and Bait Mackanw survived.
I got a bonus in getting killmails for both Leroxee and TheHermit. The second and third place top killers. They were tricky (and smart) so they surprised me and I did not get a vid of the kills. 4 of them warped in on the far end of the ice belt and they blew up a Mack there. Leroxee and TheHermit warp off, I expected them to leave but instead had my bait Macknaw set up as a secondary target (these people plan!)so they landed next to me. It was all I could do to get the drones out and locks before CONCORD stole the KM's.
Pirates are ebul bottom dwelling slime but, you have to respect people who can fly well. The bastards had a very good system set up and were killing exhumers every 17 minutes or so while they were running. Only problem is that they took over an hour to get to my bait mack. A little faster next time please, and bring more ships!

Congratulations Phil. Amazing efford!
The Suicidal Moose Squad will however practise and be ready for the Hulkageddon IV.
Eventhough we're currently only big on killing a few Retrievers (vid here) your 'phoon fit will be tried.

This
Someones a sore loser...
I didn't lose because I didnt even participate. Don't be mad at me because I have standards. I just think the event was way overhyped for how small scale it was.
so lets see a bit about your standards:
Xenuria's combat record - Ranked #129,658 Lifetime kills 0 Lifetime losses 3 ISK Lost 112,331,133 ISK Destroyed 0 Success Ratio 0:1 Average ISK/Kill (no data cos no kills)
wow thats probably worst ranking i ever got to dig up ... i thought hydra had standards

m8 hydra have only the highest of recruiting standards, they are the #2 best alliance in the game. Getting your corp accepted into the prestigious Hydra Alllice is a feat most can only dream of.

Edited by: Marcus Vorenius on 25/07/2010 20:32:03 Thanks for a target-rich environment, damn good fleet mates and loads of laughs. EVE is a much better place without all the Macro Miners we have smoked.
If you are a miner and you where actually at the keyboard when a contractor from Citadel Enterprise popped you, then you are eligible for compensation. Please go to our office in 9UY4-H and contract 10 Exotic Dancers and a 5mill ISK administration fee, then we will issue the compensation. _________________________________________ Citadel Enterprise - Private Military Corporation |
