Edited by: Sazkyen on 24/07/2010 11:27:57 A mission/ratting/plexing related question so I put it here.
I always wanted to know this. In many MMORPGs you have a significant advantage if you log in very early and farm the drops. Players entering later will receive loot from a diminished loot basket.
How does this work in EVE?
Is it purely chance based or are chances dropping constantly with every loot made?

Edited by: Melina Havlock on 24/07/2010 11:56:04 It's all random chance, if say the same officer is spawned by plexers 30 times a day, every single one would have the same chance to drop officer loot.
Edit: And mission loot is the same, when I used to salvage I would never notice any significant difference in drops at different times.

Somewhat off topic, but the salvaging, codebreakering, and analyzing skills all say "5% increase in chance of (skill type) find per level." Is that just a badly worded way of saying 5% more chance of successfully opening the node, or does it mean 5% more chance for better loot/any loot from that node?

Loot drops in EVE are purely random.
HOWEVER, faction/officer spawns are more likely to happen in a belt which hasn't been "spawned" yet, meaning that if you log in immediately after DT, each time you warp to a new belt you will get a "new spawn", which has a chance to get a faction spawn.
There are rumors which say that in order to get a faction spawn, you need to clear a spawn X number of times so that it will reset. ----------
