Edited by: Interscene on 30/07/2010 20:03:10 CCP have on many occasions in the past suprised me, and suprised me a lot with their more human aspect. The fact that many of their blogs (even for concepts I dislike and/or consider time-wasters like PI) contain lots of comical illustrative sketches and are approached with a friendly manner, the fact that many of the devs post openly on the forums - something most MMORPGs would never allow their designers to do - and other little things.
Its the PR that I think most of hate. Its the feeling that your being given a canned bit of tosh that either came free with some business management software or was dreampt up by some consultant in blue-sky painted 'conceptualisation pod.'
Its when CCP say things to their making 'exponetial headway' it walks into the brick-wall of the fact that the latest new builds of EVE have introduced lag almost unseen before. I've been fighting in 'big fleets' in EVE since 2006 and I've never seen it as bad as it was last month. When they release bland PR as damage control to prevent the future consumer market being polluted without replying to players its terrible.
The subscription paying players right here right now who are the current community demand better than promises of future content. We DEMAND that lag be fixed and that CCP work on getting that in order for the thousands of players who want this done over WiS and other candy-glitter.
And to those who say "If you don't like it, quit." Seriously - STFU. Thats the sort of thing you expect to here from a banker or some other beaurocrat who has your money already and knows that you have no alternative. We pay money for this game, CCP works to provide a service on our approval. We have more than the right to take it or leave it. To pay money or quit. We have the right to DEMAND that CCP fixes lag and fixes the game. We have the right to DEMAND that current content be fixed and made streamlined, not bolstered with more glittery half-functional content.
A human response from CCP is what this crowd wants to hear, we don't want to read marketing blurb damage control to satiate people who may become future customers on The Escapist or MSN. We want to hear from the people who make and maintain this game we love - deep down somewhere in all of us posting in this thread - that they're listening and not just bullheadedly trying to steer us with PR damage control. This thread is speaking to the directors of CCP, to its creative directors and to its development team - NOT to its marketing department!!
We have the right to DEMAND better from the money we pay. ___
