Like others I will vote for something else. Dominion brought us such niceties like colorful planets, a new sov system (just as bad as old way), a way to upgrade systems....all of which I don't want. Somewhere in the Dominion code lies a bug that eats away at my real enjoyment. A lag inducing bug that stifles the real beauty of the game. Rescind Dominion and I'll believe CCP really cares about their game. As it stands it appears CCP is only interested in eye candy, not game play.
Thank God Starcraft 2 is released.

Hell, you'll be lucky if you can still afford a marketing department at the rate your going.
You ever wonder where the marketing team from SOE went? Nah, couldn't be.

I was interested in my "War" thread if CCP would lock it. I was amazed the used rule 17 to do so. So let me understand this, if we were to stage a war in Jita, somehow that is interpreted as affecting "All" players in Eve. Really? This would seem to be a bit far fetched. My real problem now is the number of players that get lagged out if Jita gets hit versus how many players get affected in Null sec when two large fleets engage. Want to bet the amount of players may be greater in null sec? The rule 17 reply is just another reason why CCP is is losing stature with it's player base. I hope they wake up before they see their cash flow starts reducing to to a unsustainable level. Kinda like their reputation is diminishing via this thread.

Edited by: Lrrp on 08/08/2010 12:49:37 Here's what I don't fully understand. Just what will be so captivating about WIS that after a week or two and the "Gee Whiz" factor wears off? Other than giving us a new way to spin in station I'm not sure 18 months more of concentrated effort on Incarna is only going to give us nothing more than pretty planets when we warp to a station. Will we be able to kill each other inside a station? Doesn't sound like it. Will we be able to prevent someone from boarding his ship? Will we be able to steal a docked ship? Doesn't sound like it either.
So what will be left after you've walked around, seen all the sights and bought a station T-shirt? Anything compelling? CCP might want to ask itself what makes a game great. What holds peoples interest? Why does a top down game like Starcraft become so much fun and people keep playing it for years? Is it new shiny or is it how the game is played? Eve is without a doubt a very playable game that has the capacity to hold our interests as shown by pre-Dominion game play. Unfortunately layers of new shiny were added and broke what is Eve's premier attraction.
Sometimes as a company you have to realize that things need to be scrapped, reshaped and go on from there. With Eve the player base knows what needs to be done and it is unfortunate that CCP does not have the clarity of sight to see what it's customers already know. CCP needs to understand that without revamping the game code itself, that adding ever more layers to a aging game engine is not going to improve anything. Spending time on another "improvement" like Incarna will attract some people but eventually word will spread that WIS has no real game play value. Then when the plebes actually try to jump in a ship and try to experience what Eve is really meant to be, they will abandon ship and go to a game that is not trying to be a fusion of many different things.
Eve is first and foremost about flying ships. If one cannot do that satisfactorily, then in the end Eve will spiral downward as other games are developed that will do it better. As in motorcycle riding and taking a spill, the question is not if but when. Fix your game CCP.

I wonder if the surreal dichotomy of Eve not winning the award because Eve players voted for other games will have any effect on the blinder wearing crowd at CCP? I suspect not.

edit; BUMP!
The rabble spread high value fertilizer so The Lords lawn will look lush and green. The least he could do is thank them. ;)

Also in before the usual 'they only did it because we stamped our feet and fussed like little kids everywhere there was a reply to post button' poast.
And if we didn't stamp our feet and did just as mommy told us....how much do you think CCP would wind up doing to better the core game?
