not so sure about that - if they are going public (i.e. IPO) then they need some leverage i.e. something venture capitalists finds attractive. CCP has a LOT of executives on the Board of Directors. They even have a CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) - had to look that one up - probably a part of the merger deal. I'm quite sure that Scotty (Ryan Scott Dancey) is very competent at his job (picture here: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/ryan-dancey/5/858/8b3) _______________________ P3T Blog: Lessons Learned from New Eden |

Originally by: oil we shouldnt try to ruin the game even more. some of us have invested seven years and thousands of hours into their position in the game. some manager is able to make this all worthless with a bad decision. thats scary and should open the eyes of many about the real value of the game.
you mr., you are scary. Your arguments remind me of a beaten housewife always returning to her husband: "But he has always been so nice to me. He even sent me flowers when I was in hospital because he had kicked me down the stairs. I can't give up my home and my children. It would be selfish of me to leave my husband." __________________________________________________

Simply put: CCP currently cares more for increased revenue rather than providing its current player base with a fully working product.
A feature list a mile long will attract plenty of customers, but nobody will stick around once they realize all the features suck. This looks incredibly short-sighted given CCP's MMORPG model, where you need your relatively limited audience who bought the game to stick around for as long as possible -- unless you manage to create a game equivalent to digital crack.
With the level of polish eve's core features have had as of late, I'm finding myself wondering if CCP is either willing to, or capable of, creating content with the requisite quality to get new players to stick around for the long haul.
I sincerely hope everyone in Iceland and Atlanta do so, because I still love this game, and the amount of neglect makes me worry for the game's future.

wondering how many newspapers, sites, etc.. will need to comment about this big failure before CCP give us the respect we are asking here, which is not a big deal BTW with so many devs working there and so many positions open according to their site. --- Sig Under Construction |

Edited by: Evelgrivion on 31/07/2010 22:13:54 I know the people in CCP can create a game worthy of the title "Best Online Game," as it is a title I would have easily granted to Eve Online before. Its the bean-counters who decide where efforts should be spent that I'm wondering about.

The future of EvE is tanks, not spaceships.

I think a lot of players feel the same way, regardless of being hardcore or not. Their feelings are being expressed in multiple threads on multiple sites, blogs and individual actions. Many of whom took action of varying degrees before this thread even popped into existence.
A message of sorts is being conveyed. Hopefully, CCP are looking at this seriously and are engaged in frank discussion internally.

If - if - anybody important is paying attention then maybe they will be able to figure out something is wrong. And if that happens then maybe they will "commit" to fixing it. And if that happens maybe they will actually follow through for once.
The way things have been the last year I won't believe it until the results are live on TQ. Too many broken commitments, too many ****ups. |

The response was from a PR company, not even from a 'real' CCP employee, from this shower of Call U Next Tueday's. World of Tanks closed beta applied for, just waiting for the reply.

Edited by: Andy Moo on 01/08/2010 00:34:07 I'm sure it's been said but **** reading 40-odd pages of a thread ..
Fix the features you have before adding new ones. Give up on the blind insistence to add "Second Life in Space".
I enjoy this game because I can fly a spaceship and shoot ****. When I read a dev blog that mentions "player made character clothing" my heart sinks.
For the love of god fix the things that your player base identify as broken and/or important before adding superfluous new "features".
I used to enjoy the game in the early days of 2003/4 when the majority of CCPs dev teams time was spent fixing things that weren't working as intended. Sadly these days it seems that the devs would rather throw in broken mechanics rather than fixes.

CCP I just dont get you at all. You have what could be one of the best games in the world ever, yet you are letting it slip! EVE is the only game I have ever played with the sound allways off. Are you mad! Sound is a very important issue as it brings depth and immersion.
When I started EVE just as apocrypha came out, lag was a hell of a lot better. My early days in large nullsec fleet battles were enjoyable. Now I cant even go in a 20 v 20 gang without modules lagging, bad response times and even recently my MWD sticking ON.
The UI also needs a tweak/rework.
CCP if I were to vote it would be on Battlefield. Proof that polished features are better than broken ****.
TLDR: LOL @ the cheek of CCP, fix the issues in the game >> Make it GREAT again.

With all due respect, it probably wasn't the best idea in the world to post this on the same day that *Some Other Company* released it's *Insanely Popular Online PvP Spaceships* title, which will probably be of relevance to many who are currently unhappy subscribers of Eve?

I got 5 free days to rant about how very very bad the this game is right now. I used to love it.
Current bad implementations are;- No new space to get rid of the cluster *****,- nano age is dead - close range mess warfare - :( - carrier cavavans - jump freighters - jump portals - sovereignty - oh and ccp priorities of not caring about the games vision for the next year, whilst they roll out things that should be further down the priority list ie incarna and dust.
Hmmm need to balance this up and say something nice about ccp.. 2005 was ok
p.s deep core mining inc ftw

Last week, you had a 60+ page threadnought, and even before that, you had a 2000+ "supported" thread in the assembly hall asking nicely about this: Lag, unfinished features, crippling bugs, UI, etc.
So CCP, I have a question you might have missed before:

If people want to walk in space stations, let them play Star Trek Online.
If people want to play music, dance, and have sex in space stations, let them play Second Life.
I'm here to shoot spaceships and spread misery.
Quit trying to make this game everything for everyone. You're selling in a market where your main competition is Facebook and WoW, and soon to be another Star Wars MMO (that's going to be far more strongly backed than SWG ever was). You're selling a re-wallpapered product from 2003 and yet you're still around because you DIDN'T MESS WITH WHAT WORKED.
Right now, we're playing EVE Online - you're playing Naive Online. Get back on our page.
