Edited by: Baillif on 01/08/2010 05:13:34 What really irks me is that they throw money into a console FPS for soon to be antiquated equipment to tie into a game that is still around after 7 years on pc. Who thought that this was a good idea?
How many good FPS's came out this year? Who here can actually remember their names? Who here still actually plays them? You guys are basically building BF2143 barely tying it into an MMO who's player base is ****ED AT YOU, not to mention probably 10 years older on average than the console kiddies you will have to market your product to, and claiming its some genius stroke of originality.
But you know what? You are already committed to your stupid stupid plan so go ahead. I, as well as many others here, will anxiously await the epic flop that game makes and IF YOU ARE LUCKY we will still be around to tell you we told you so.
You should just drop incarna, drop dust, maybe pick incarna back up when you fix the lag or stick to something we actually care about like fixing rockets, fixing the sov system, or curing cancer.

Don't think damage control is going to fix this situation so let's switch directly to the blame game. What CCP employee do you think is most responsible for EVE dying? Discuss amongst yourselves

Well now that SC2 is out i finally have something better to do. Playing something of high quality from blizz for a few days and then coming back to eve really gives you some perspective on how **** this UI is.
I am considering liquidating assets for plexes so i can keep "ghost training" my accounts.
The only important question now is:
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO NOW?

I've personally always wondered if all this window dressing is just a cover for the fact that the core game itself simply can't be fixed at this point without serious risk to the current game's state of existence.
As in - would you suffer a full server reset to clean out all the gunk and dust in EVE's seven year old spackled code?

Effective map reset, yes, but a full out alt reset would kill the game anyway, there would be no point. Enough people have enough tied up in the game, that a full blow alt wipe server reset would kill EVE from player loss.

Has CCP made any response to this? At this point I would be happy with "I know you all want us to fix what's in the game, but we don't care and we are gonna add more broken stuff instead." At least then I would know they are being strait with me.
Maybe I'm being harsh, but I've been following the CSM stuff, and reading the CSM's proposals gave me hope that someone knew that things needed to be fixed, and actually might be in a position to do something about it. CCP seems to have replied to some of the outrage over the release of the minuets, but everything is still so vague. If they can't give us reassurance every time a 40+ thread explodes, then I can't really trust they are listening, or care to listen.

So true. It also makes you realise how mediocre all of Eve's graphics are, even the graphics that were fairly recently overhauled look pretty poor.
I'm having more fun playing SC2 than I've had at any point this year in Eve. Way more fun. Just wish I didn't have 8 months of subs left on Othran Alt account is dead in 29 days thankfully.

Without really substantive, actual, action from CCP, rather then silence or platitudes, I'm finding it hard to justify keeping 3 subscriptions.
It will probably only take another week of CCP taking this course to decide it.

I'm getting "A player with the same name is already in the game" when I try to log into the game.
It's highly annoying as I just spent 250 gold on premium. I don't want to wait 18 months for a fix, anyone able to help me? --

Yep no vote for eve.
I dont know if its your scrum development model or what, but this games quality has been drobbing down for a year. Seems like none of your developers really know the code anymore.
Please fix the game, then i will consider if your deserved my vote. Use eve generated income to maintain eve and fix it, dont spend it on uncertain future stuff that may newer bring income. If your serious about eve, i would expect 80% of devs working on eve to improve what we have allready and 20% toying with those future code play projects.
Currently considering if i need all my 7 accounts to do what i do and im still mostly paying them by cash.

CCP's quote of the day: CCP Navigator saying that fleet fights are forbidden as they increase the cost of providing the 'service'.
You should probably get permission from the PR company before you post anything, because there are remarkably few things you can post right now that won't make the community angrier.

Honestly CCP is just another corporation which is trying to lower its costs (quality) and up its profits (higher ups salary) at the cost of its player base (the people who pay for all this) which are now ****ed off. Frankly this isn't a sustainable business model, you guys aren't Blizzard yet so hows about making a sustainable business model which will not only keep your best asset (this game) in the best position possible, and keep people playing, rather than simply put adds on every site on the internet and hope your short term customers will keep it going.
As for myself I noticed this other thread related to fleet fights...
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1362220&page=1#10
If this is your honest response CCP, then I see no reason to continue to play your game. If the next expansion doesn't fix lag in a noticeable way and restores the game to pre-dominion playability levels I will cancel all my characters and move on to another game, just as easy as that. And I'm very sure I wont be the only one. |

This^ is something that I've been wondering myself.
EvE is the only thing that CCP has which makes them money, and if CCP management were to realise that Eve can't be fixed , what would they do? I know that I would try to diversify my business so as to be able to survive if Eve no longer is profitable. This makes me think of Dust 514 and World of Darkness.
Possibly they wanted to diversify just because they think they can make money from a console FPS that no one will play (which raises even more questions about their managerial competence).
But the most telling thing, IMO, is the fact that with the lag problem (one of the few bugs that they have actually acknowledged) is still not fixed 6 months after they said that they would fix it, I'm seriously beginning to wonder if they can fix it. I somehow don't think they can.
It might be that they were hoping to have Dust and WoD up and running AND on the road to making them a profit before doing something about Eve, so as to have an emergency financial fallback if Eve goes south (in fact this is the most likely option), but I think current events are catching up with them before they're ready.
Player frustration with the bugs and their unwillingness to fix them, compounded by their own incompetent PR attempts seem to be heading to a future where Eve will crash before they have any financial alternatives.
