If this is done the test will go pretty much as the last few did: -200 to 300 people will turn up and wait 90 minutes getting fleets set up -10 minutes of jumping and traffic control -10 minutes of fighting with acceptable lag as it is a dedicated node in an empty galaxy -CCP spawns 100 Sleepers and everything lags out -CCP Tanis or Habbakuk posts FPS numbers and how useful data was gathered and promising changes were tested.
Repeat every few weeks for the next 17 months.

Hi, I know you don't want to hear that I'm reading your post, but here goes in a nutshell:
1) the last devblog says your lying to us - lag is most certainly not your #1 priority, dust/incarna are, which, from our perspective, sucks.
2) you communicate just fine, till you find out we know you've done something ******ed, then you pass it off to your PR department which totally screws up the job because they are exactly that, a PR department.
Again, communication just fine : you told us you have significantly more devs working on ******ed things like dresses and bars in stations, and a FPS that many of us won't be able to play because your passing it off to consoles that will be outdated and replaced in 2 more years. We heard you, and we think it sucks.
Im a UStz player, so my list of reasons that I can't make your tests are as follows:
1) You gave IHUBs too many hitpoints, it takes hours to shoot it
2) You gave stations too many hitpoints, it takes hours to shoot it
3) You actually got the SBU's about right, but they still take a good while to shoot
4) You moved a lot of POS mods outside of the shields to give us small gang warfare targets, then, you gave them millions of hit points so small gangs really have no hope of taking them down, they take hours to shoot.
5) You made station services targetable, again for small gang warfare, then gave them millions of hit points, they take hours to shoot.
So, when you add up all those hours, pretty much from down time to down time is spent shooting inanimate objects in 0.0 right now, because we can only use about 50 people to do it, since anymore cripples the server.
Unfortunately, you won't be getting to any possible review of the horrid sov mechanics that you've saddled us with, so unfortunately, most of the big 0.0 alliances are in someway going to be repping, or shooting, the millions and millions of hit points that some douche bag thought was a good idea, for the foreseeable future, so your never going to get a decent turn out.
Test on the live server, it can't get anyworse than it already is.
TEST ON THE LIVE SERVER

Regarding communication, you may also consider to start practicing community polls as was suggested here. Each time some important question pops up, or when you just want to know how your customers feel about this and that, launch a poll within the client. (and make results public)

Do Not Feed The Troll. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyways, CCP Zinf, much if not most of the problems that we're seeing come from the hamfisted manner in which communication has been handled coupled with the contrast between how things are, and how they were. When I was interviewed for E-ON two issues ago (three?), I pointed out that the changes in Apocrypha that made massive fleet fights a reality were the single most important set of upgrades that EVE had ever seen, and something that allowed it to truly fulfill the promise inherent in the concept of a space combat game.
But then Dominion broke that, and introduced a kluged together, half-finished sov system. And instead of fixing it, CCP just kept rolling on, adding more half-finished content on top of the old (which is a problem that's been going on for a while). So while it's nice to talk about how CCP really wants to fix bugs and such, talk is cheap. Which isn't to say that you're not being truthful, just that the word themselves don't amount to much. Without actions to back them up.
CCP is working on fixing everything they broke with Dominion? Okay... like what? How long will we most likely have to wait until the same battles that were possible in Apocrypha are possible now? CCP is working on performance upgrades? Okay, what are the chances that CCP will fix some of the 'low hanging fruit', the easy problems with the UI that negatively impact how the average EVE player experiences the game? ("modify" and "cancel" trade options right next to each other, and no "are you sure" option for cancel? Seriously?) How about planets/stargates/stations flashing red on people's overviews for no reason? Or drone AI that is still broken, where "focus fire" is a serving suggestion and not a rule and "go and attack that target" is something that you drones evidently can change their mind about? If these sorts of problems are being fixed, when can we expect them to be fixed, if they're not, why not?
You're looking for ways to communicate more. Okay, but why is it such a challenge? What would be so hard with, say, tasking the lead dev on the (unfortunately, hypothetical) Progressively Fixing The UI team with creating continually updated progress blogs?
-"Today we identified these five areas that we will begin work on, they are blah, blah blah, blah blah blah, and... we are working on them because we believe they will confer the following benefits... we believe that we will have made significant progress by blah blah. We will keep you updated." -"A week has passed, and we have solved the problems with "blah and blah blah, but blah blah blah may take a little more time as there are some weird interactions in the code that we have to chase down. In the meanwhile, we have also added yadda, yadda yadda, and yadda yadda yadda to the queue and we will begin work on those once blah blah blah is finished."
Most of the rage and bad press you're getting aren't just because of the mass of unfinished content, kluged systems that have been abandoned, lag, etc... but that when faced with them CCP's reaction was to say that new content is preferable to having working/polished old content, that fixing the game is their number one priority even though only something like 22 devs are actually working on that, etc...
EVE is an awesome game and a solid intellectual property. The fans, for the most part, have gone well past the point of addiction. It's not that there are problems, it's not even that CCP is having trouble fixing them, it's the utter disdain that the folks at the top seem to have for the playerbase. It's one thing to say that resources are tight and some issues may take a while to solve. It's another thing, entirely, to urinate on your customers and try to convince them that it's raining. And that, why, they should be glad for the refreshing rain since boy, it sure was getting hot. ------------------------------------------------

Wow.
Way to get worked up over something less than 10% of the active playerbase even knows about. Sorry that fleet fights are borked but really can't you find something else to occupy your mind until ccp gets around to fixing fleet fight lag? I don't know about other players but when one part of the game was not fun I simply switched to another part of the game that was fun.
I guess this is a concept beyond the grasp of your average cannon fodder.

And what exactly is that going to prove or even more importantly accomplish? "Yo CCP!! Even though you obviously know fleet fights lag we thought we would disrupt other players games that have nothing to do with fleet fights just to show you that we care. So now that we have protested and made even moar players(who have nothing to do with fleet fights) game unplayable we feel that you will be able to magically pull the lag fix out of your arse and impliment it. amirite? no really, AMIRITE!!!!!!"

Time and again some CCP folk will post "we know we should work on improving communication, that's the one thing we can all do to improve the situation" and then nothing happens. Why is it so hard for you guys to translate insight into actions?!
And don't start with those mass tests again. We can only show you the door and have done so many times in those tests, but going through it is entirely your job. If can't or don't want to do that, then no amount of testing will change a thing (see also "Why is it so hard for you guys to translate insight into actions?!")

¼¼ indeed
There have been "mass tests" in the past and they've seemed to yield little to no results.
The test server is just that, a test server, it's not a mirror of the live server hardware\load wise so a mass test will do little more than tell CCP that the test server can't deal with large numbers of players... useful.
If they insist on "mass testing" on the test server then they'll need to insentivise it and for once it's the kind of thing they can easily insentivise.
When they wanted to test capitals they gave people all lvl 5s so everyone and their ****** could join in. That was entirely pointless because most of those who can't fly capitals don't know how to fly capitals, it's like getting me to test a jet fighter.
Now they just want pure numbers and they won't offer a bean? Um... stick 500mil as an incentive and see how many people rush to help.
I'll give them a hint though, loot logging. That's where my money is, it's not something we need, not something anyone I know wanted and yet we got it. Even with it turned off I've got a feeling in my water that it has an effect.
There... I helped --

thats all CCP wants a couple o'hundred players to create the lag that cant be generated by spawning NPC's....
