Because, quite frankly, this is CCP we're talking about.

No, we are the ones encouraging the press to link to this thread, not you. And the reason we're doing so should be pretty obvious by now, and if it isn't then I think then there's little hope a good outcome to this, because it would show that you have no idea how we perceive the state of the game and CCP as a company.
Talk to us and that will change. Ignore us or do not respond to us and the bad PR is only going to get worse.

Quote: TBQFH, after reading that I also wondered whether the guy was either messing with us or simply mentally challenged. Anyone who would think the bad reports about CCP currently going down in the press would be good publicity would have to have some serious problems with their perception of the real world.
Because the bad publicity comes from trolls. Anyone who is familiar with the internets can spot a troll a terabyte away. Then they can research it for themselves and make an informed decision.
I voted for eve btw I forget if I mentioned that.
If you voted for a game you don't play just to spite Eve, good for you. Thats how Bush Jr. got elected twice. Eve will still be the best game out no matter how hard you try to trash it. This is clearly a signature. |

There are no doubt many people who are trolling these forums from both sides of the debate, but the story being posted in the press is too wide to only come from trolls, and if you had, for instance, read the massively, Kotaku and tentonhammer articles, you would have see that they do their own research, not just report the things that get mailed to them.

You got it all wrong dude. If you'd taken the time to post something substantial the playerbase would respond in a positive manner. CCP has yet to respond other than with a bunch of meaningless replies that include "we are on vacation" or "i showed it to dudes at the marketing meeting this morning" or "hahaha look at me posting in a threadnaught" or "hahaha we un-stickyed the thread, we win!!"... THIS is what angers the players.

"Dominion was a rushed and shoddy release that did great damage to my enjoyment of the game by introducing bugged new sovereignty elements and greatly increased lag in fleet combat.
By choosing to release this to meet an entirely arbitrary deadline (Iceland's independence day if I recall correctly) you went against everything you used to stand for. In the past you used to have a "ready when it's ready", "HTFU", "Soontm" attitude that meant things tended to get released in a (mostly) functional form, even if it meant ignoring the "I need it now" crowd.
Following Dominion's release I was one of the quiet people who had faith that despite this you would quickly move to fix these problems and we would once again return to normal service within a couple of months as has always been the case in the past.
Unfortunately this is not what has happened. Even now after another expansion the problems are getting more numerous and nothing seems to be being done about it. The known bugs with the new sovereignty system have not been repaired, the lag is worse than ever and is now bleeding into even small gang PvP, the new PI element is a shadow of how it was described at fanfest and even in it's own teaser video, EvEGate is nothing more than an out of game email client.
Despite this I still had faith that CCP were going to turn it around, fixes would be delivered and things would return to normal. This has not happened and my patience is not infinite.
The worst part was when you released the information about how you are allocating your developers. If Eve was running as well as it did in apocrypha 1.5 then I would have no problem with you spending lots of time and effort on new things, in fact I would welcome it (we all love new shiny stuff!) however it isn't. The last two expansions have had a disastrous effect on the playability of the core of the game and this trend must stop if you are to have any hope of continuing to grow your user base.
You must begin to work through the very long list of things that are either broken or were promised long ago and have not been delivered or you risk losing the core of your customers.
I leave with a very heavy heart and I will return as soon as you can provide a stable and functional game. I urge you to rearrange your priorities so that I can return sooner rather than later.
Regards"

I have been following most of the threads/articles dealing with this topic. And while I was on my way back home today, a thought came to my mind, that heads into a new direction with the whole issue. Let me first sum up some facts.
1. CSM minutes clearly stated that CCP planned ahead for at least 1,5 years, without taking any suggestions from the CSM ... which is their most reliable connection to the playerbase and as they called it themselfs "stakeholders of eve-online".
2. Although a seroius outrage followed after that, CCP did not act. I personally do not consider the latest dev blogs as a serious reaction to that.
3. Zulu's Dev blog provided us with some numbers regarding the actual distribution of developers to eve related projects. I will come back to those numbers later.
4. CCP is currently working on eve-online, dust514 and far more interesting: world of darkness. This is a keypoint of my thoughts.
5. At fanfest 2009 Helmar showed a slide during the main presentation which showed the total numbers of employees at that point. The count was 434 people working for CCP. That number is now about 10 months old and since CCP has aggressivly hired more people (see their own posts) i assume that they now have at least 500 people under command (just some kind of extrapolation from the numbers givin from helmars presentation).
6. During Fansfest 2009 the CTO and the VP of Engineering introduced a working procedure called "Corefication", which simply means to provide synergy between various projects that CCP is working on.
7. Incarna (WIS) is widely known to be a BETA Test for the main-engine of world of darkness. This perfectly fits the corefication philosophy of CCP.
8. The last 2 expansions for eve online were rather disappointing (there were high hopes for both of them - dominion and tyrannis). To be honest... both of them lacked content and excellence. They were kind of cheap things.
And now comes the Story. In my opinion world of darkness is literally sucking eve online dry. And why is that? We all know eve is kind of a difficult game for the developer. Its a niche genre and u need smart people in it --- that results in low income and a ever pushing playerbase. And my guess is that CCP, at least the management, got tired of it. Why not switch to the fantasy sector? There are more players (-> more income) and they are easier to handle (less effort needed -> less developers -> more profit). Sure they would have to face a bigger competition, but yet they are experienced with eve and have some new stuff in the pocket (I am sure).
So what is indicating that move? First off, we all know CCP is working on world of darkness - no secret there. Secondly we have experienced that CCP does not seem to care any longer about the key problems of eve online. You could bring the argument that they still work heavily on incarna... but... and its a BIG BUT: Working on Incarna means working on world of darkness if u followed my facts. And thats just the tip of the iceblock. I gave u the approximatly number of people working for CCP. Lets make them 500. Take 20 away for Dust 514 (didnt see much more people as they introduced the shanghai-team). Thats 480 people left. If u do not count the incarna people into the team working on eve - since its just a false flag operation - und end up with 54 people working on eve online. Take them away from the 480 left over u end up with 426 people at CCP's pool for employess not working on eve online or dust514. Can u guess which project the majority of CCP is working on? I am pretty sure u can .... world of ****ing darkness.

TBH, for being the '0.0 patch', I'm not sure that Dominion accomplished anything positive for 0.0. Even aside from the lag that was accidental, homogenizing space was never going to lead to exciting galactic conflicts. Especially since your average player is still better off financially in empire. I guess there are a lot of stations in empire that we can all walk around in.

I am tired of the whining and all of you causing lag for your stupid wars. I have a response. Quit your crying and get over it.

Hi,
Thank you for your feedback. We have taken note of your complaint and will send it to the appropriate people.
I assure you that we are trying our best to find a middle-ground so that both the 0.0 players and the high-sec players can enjoy themselves on the Tranquility server. We are also aware of some vocal forum posters who think they can sway us by being "loud", we do value the feedback of all of our customers but in the end we take everything into consideration and make the choice we feel is best for the community as a whole and the future of the game.
Your feedback is just as valuable as that of the 0.0 players, and thanks again for letting us know your thoughts.
Good luck in your future endeavors in the Eve universe.
Best regards, GM Zerat EVE Online Customer Support
Keep complaining and trying to get negative press for a good game, but they are onto you, and they will not let a bunch of loud mouthed WHINERS ruin all of their hard work.
Keep on keepin on CCP.

No not irritated at all! Just thought that one line was funny since I occasionally run into or hear about the not-so-bright segment of the EVE population. You're correct in general, it takes some intelligence and commitment to hang with this game.
I thought you had some good points, thanks for posting. I feel I'm too new to have an opinion on this at the moment. I've never really experienced terrible lag since I keep to myself in empire space, but I hear about it all the time. I've noticed bugs here and there, but nothing worth posting about. Again, fairly new here.
Just hoping the outcome serves both the players and CCP. ____________________

Plus, all your words, you don't know they are at all the fleet fights so we're back round to the "ccp need to communicate better" side of things again.
Ultimatly, yes, they do lots of things well but the game, for me, is far too broken for it to be fun.
Empire sucks ass, huge fleet fights lag to frustration.
I'm just hoping that warhammer 40k doesn't blow when it comes out, or when we hear more about it, there's potential there. --
