Ok, more seriously, it is not so easy to leave when you made some good connections with players of your corporation, etc... It requires time. I will probably leave within the next 3 months, but as always, it is not certain. At least, I already reduced the number of accounts I have in Eve, and I discourage friends and contacts to go into Eve.
Also, we saw that Eve can be correct, with Apocrypha. So there was hope that CCP could correct it. But time passes and there is still no correction of this issue, nor about the issues who can be corrected within minutes like Rockets, and the "18 months" information is not a good news. This is why I didn't vote for Eve.
CCP should change a few their development tactic. At least, for balancing and lag issues. Small patches to correct rockets, to upgrade shield or anything like this could be a great improvement. The big expansion tactic can stay but is annoying for this, as you have to wait and hope, and because of this tactic, CCP has no will to correct balancing issues as they prefer add new "features".
I have no argument with anything you're saying, my argument is with the "I'm paying for this game but i'm so upset and angst ridden that it isn't flawless that I'm going to cry and stamp my feet and weep like a child and rend my hair and hold my breath until I'm sick" crowd. The game isn't perfect. No game is. It's being worked on (slowly, admittedly, but it is what it is).
I never want to see any game I'm playing lose subscriptions but given the amount of pathetically emo-nonsense posted here - by people who CONTINUE to pay for what they call a substandard product - I'm constantly curious as to why they stay. If a game made me cry as much as some of the posters, I absolutely would not continue to pay the publishers (thereby tacitly showing your support for them).
But, whatever. Each to their own, I guess. .

my 2 cents. meh, eve doesn't not deserve the games award this go around. atm Eve just performance wise has alot of issues. as space combat goes... I find the mechanics of STO far more exciting. unfortunatly for STO I can't take people's **** when they die. So i'm still stuck with eve.
I think this new Mail system they implemeented is what is causing alot of the lag. It's just a wild guess, but idk.. it just feels like it chugs the system when you access your box. but that's neither here nor there. Eve atm has some glaring lag issues, no dual monitor support, and various other technical problems. Not to mention Gameplay/Balance issues that still need to be resolved. i.e. the whole AFK clockie issue, various pvp balancing issues. Rockets and standard missles, did I mention no Dual monitor support? eh really bad lag when it wasn't very laggy at all when I first started. No Assault Destroyers. Bounty system needs to be looked at hard. em... rebalancing of the drops still needs to be looked at, or tweeking the whole mining thing. idk.. there is just too many things that are wrong with eve atm, that need to be looked at and fixed.
i understand CCP's need to diversify their product line and grab bigger market shares. But doing it in such a wy that the flagship feels like it's on a back burner isn't going to get you votes. I haven't heard anything about still having a team of devs crunching away on fixes for Eve. meh.. hopefully incarna and Dust will release smoothly, and or also come out with a couple of good patches for eve after release.

I simply pay for the game by ripping off new players This allows me to do two things: 1. Lower the tone and content of systems I inhabit and the boards I frequent for free (in other words decreasing the quality of the player experience for others - butterfly effect) 2. Ensure that I am doing my part actively to ensure that CCP's endevours in creating new content to attract new players are being somewhat blunted by killing off new players.
CCP are too dumb to realize that the 300mil a month I trade in for a plex (that some one else has paid rl money for) means there are 2 possibly 3 new accounts that have left eve with a sour taste in their mouths.

Looks like from the overwhelming echo (CCP thanking customers for voting or something?) really noone cares much about who won that award. Still epic lulz that crappy Tyrannis of all expansions got that one. Well, at least wasn't Dominion. Guess the competitors didn't want to fork over enough RL money... Or didn't bother to alienate their customers with a certain forum post like...
Quote:
[...] The European Games Award is the first award exclusively for European games and is now looking for votes from gamers for the best European video and computer games. EVE Online has been nominated for best Online Game but needs your vote to win the competition. Check out what games are being nominated for here and then cast your vote for EVE Online for best online game! [...]
Which in addition to being received as a bit offensive, is just plain wrong. Good job spin-doctoring there, Zymurgist! Telling people in your initial post to vote for EVE, instead of "just for Tyrannis" which was the matter in question... So congrats for blatantly telling half-truths (or even lying) to your customers and not only getting away with it but actually scoring! Makes one wonder how low CCP's standards will sink in the future. Well, your credibility is down the gutter now with me... for like 18 months at least.

The irony in posting that picture is that the simpson's is a tried and true show that spent decades refining and perfecting content to the point where a simple ha-ha with a boy point is a universally recognised symbol of Nelson laughing at others misfortune.
The only tried and true content from CCP is lag.

Fact that after all EVE has been easily voted for best European online game shows once again how insignificantly small is this part of playerbase which created all the drama in this thread.

This looks like an hymn to the sheep.
I hope the PvP lag will be solved, I have played other MMOs that slowly (sometimes quickly) lost 90% of their player base because of similar factors.
The old players are the glue of the game, without them there would not be an hardened-across-years ties to keep people together. Old players naturally tend to join the end game and they are aggregators for others. If one of them leaves, they tend to have influence on others. Now, if EvE was newbie friendly, the turn over would counter this effect, but EvE is not. - Auditing & consulting

Edited by: Lahari on 17/08/2010 13:17:07 So pages and pages of people complaining about the lag. Saying CCP is doing nothing. This is in spite of many dev blogs and Facebook updates and other announcements all along detailing their efforts on the lag issue.
All those calls for people to join test server for large fleet tests. The details over a new tool they have for working on the lag.
Yes its an issue, yes CCP is aware. And yes, seems this thread got some attention out there. However, guess what?!
http://www.european-games-award.com/
Eve still won.
So congratulations CCP from Novatech Armada And this is from us to all you whiners. http://theuglydance.com/?v=gserxguac4

It certainly stoked the fires again, but with such a peak at the beginning it does pale in comparison a little. All the really angry people either had a brain aneurysm or quit by now.

My own annoyances aside...
I am curious if any of the MMO news sites that reported that Eve is dying and the majority of the playerbase is furious with CCP will do a followup story.
And how they would spin it.

Sounds like a win on all fronts then. Eve gets a well justified award,(provided you don't do fleet fights ;p) the forums get a bit quiter and people who get angry in real life over a game can cool off and get some perspective.
