Edited by: Mr Kidd on 02/08/2010 00:43:10 A friend and I were doing some sparring today. Granted, he was flying a Tengu and I a Megathron. So perhaps the end result would be the same either way. The problem is that I wasn't even making a lasting dent in his shield tank. Here I am with 3.4 million SP in gunnery skills, all hybrid and the best I can do with 6 large meta 4 ion blasters and antimatter L is a paltry 291dps. If I spend 24 days and finish training T2 hybrids and shell out the isk for T2 charges and settle for their drawbacks I get a whopping 339 dps.........whoopty F-ing doo!
So we did some skill comparisons: His missile skills 1.8mil (he was using missiles). My gunnery skills 3.4mil.
This is monumentally disappointing!
Seriously CCP, reimagine the f-ing hybrids into something other than a f-ing skill sink. You've got enough sinks in this game.

Blasters are broken because my magnificent large weapons can't absolutely murder the super tanked cruiser sized ship, oh the anger, the anger!
But yeah, blasters need more optimal, blaster ships need more speed.

Amen...
But kinetic/thermal damage to a tengu realy doesnt sound like the best idea in the first place but the best volly i can get my rokh to without sacrificing the little tank i can fit with the 425mms' is a staggering 2000 (6.05 sec ROF)volly on a no resist target.

- His signature radius is small (not that small if he has buffer i know) - He is prob faster than your guns - It is a T3 ship, properly fitted they are uber

- He uses a middle sized weapon and you are using a large weapon..

Seriously, first of all test again and shoot on a tier 2 Caldari BS this time not on a t3 cruiser. Then come back and tell us again how awesome missiles are. -- please consider to visit our w-space system, cake will be served immediately. |

When it became apparent my guns really sucked we did some testing. So we were stationary 2000 meters apart.

You're using blasters on one of the worst things to try and kill with blasters. Try killing a proteus with torpedoes using kin/therm.

I dunno whether hybrid guns need a buff, but I really don't think you can compare a T3 cruiser to a T1 ship (regardless of ship class). The cost, performance, etc. is completely different.

Eh, he was up against the wrong ship. With my T2 Tengu set up I get around 230,000 EHP against CN AM. (Null and Void is meh.) Even with the hardners off, the native resists have me close to 130,000.
Blasters may need a buff, but I can assure you that:
1) You will not find me sitting nose to nose with a Diemos ever. 2) I am sure as **** not going to let a Blaster Rohk slow me down enough to get a good shot off. 3) Unless I have a Falcon and a couple of logi ships with me, I am running like a beeyach if I see a (PvP, blaster fit) Vindicator show up. ___

Wat... my T1 rail ratting Mega does more DPS than that. I think your fit may need some fixing and you should try flying a smaller ship to hit cruisers. THIS IS DOMINION! |

Eh...
You might want to spend some time reading up and trying to understand the varies game mechanics and formulas before complaining about something.
Some valid points were already pointed out, but I'll ask another.. six blasters on a mega?! I'm also going to wonder what, if any dmg mods/rigs/implants are not being considered or used. Remember this tactic.. if its dead, you don't need to tank anymore.
Complaining about something you don't even understand is, hmmm.. whats the word I'm looking for....

Eve is Rock Paper Scissors... I have sub par blaster skills yet I am quite happy with their damage. The issue is getting close, not doing damage... I think your fit, not your guns are bad. Edited by: Typherian on 02/08/2010 06:10:50 As a Vindicator pilot with my alt I'll say that I think blasters are ok. Rails on the other hand are completely and totally useless. Their damage output is so low that I can't think of more than one or two fits I use regularly that have them. And I avoid those fits whenever possible.

With that said, A proteus blaster setup is pure deadly pumping 1000+ DPS
If you would have used a 2 webs on the tengu with a painter you'd have given him alot more damage because he wouldn't be able to move. You could also use a few Heavy Neuts on him and drunk all his cap so he cant use his shield booster or hards. Doing this would have made that fight a whole different scenario.

Edited by: Frozean on 02/08/2010 12:03:07 Hey guys.
Obviously my megathron will still do 1000 dps after fitting a couple dozen heavy neuts on it.
And of course, i will be able to fit 2 webs, a painter, a scram, an MWD, even a cap booster on the same megathron!
Then of course, knowing i have a couple dozen neuts, he will still active tank and fit no med cap boosters.
And obviously he will sit there and allow himself to be webbed, neuted, and scramd.
My megathron is the most beautiful most awesome and long

Because there are plenty of other ships that can fit "a couple dozen" modules in the highslots. Also, megathron has 1 utility high, putting a med or heavy neut in there makes a difference.
Originally by: Frozean Then of course, knowing i have a couple dozen neuts, he will still active tank and fit no med cap boosters.
This is irrelevant, as pvp is as much about picking your engagements as it is about activating modules once the engagement starts. If you think the guy might have a fit that plays to your weaknesses, then don't engage.
Originally by: Frozean And obviously he will sit there and allow himself to be webbed, neuted, and scramd.
He'll have to if his range is less than 10km, if it's more than 10km and he's faster than you, then you shouldn't be trying to engage in the first place.

To add to the already provided long list of things you could improve on, there is also this. You can't have too much usefull ones in there above level 3 atm, which is nice for missions, but not for pvp.
And what where you thinking ? Lets see if my buffer tank, limited drone, worst damage type, low skill, short range ship with guns ment to hit big ****, does wel against a cruiser sized t3 ? And you are disapointed ? Realy ? Awwww. ========================== Nothing is true, everything is permitted. ========================== |
