I'm danish, i don't know or care about where my ancestors came from, if i go fare enough back i could probably claim to be 60th generation roman.
If your family have been living generation in america, it seems strange to try and claim some dual nationality, to a country you probably never even visited. And even more strange to only do it when it seems to serve some purpose, that is really not taking pride in ones heritage. I have never been to America, really only leave Denmark to go to Germany now and then to shop, just seems to me that there is nothing wrong with Americans taking pride in their ancestors heritage. |

As an American, I can proudly say...
If this were Star Wars we'd be the Empire If this were Star Trek we would be the Klingon.
There are distinct flavors of America that I think you missed. First: Half our country is liberal clueless dreamers, generally nice people but worthless when our utopia breaks. The other half of our country are conservative gunslingers who are overcompensating 24/7 who can't stand living in utopia.
Second: Our Politicians played the board game "Risk" as children and forgot that it was just a game.
Third: The United States provides a Utopian paradise at the cost of everyone else we meet in the entire world. It would appear some people take offense to being used.
Finally: If you REALLY want to blame someone, blame the British we walked away with the most valuable land in the world and they let us have it.
Conclusion: I was born here... I am an spoiled entitled person, who served in the military for four years and expects the world for his service. I am not blind, but only a fool would look a gift horse like this in the mouth.
As for the rest of the world... MOVE HERE, seriously we have WAY more room that we pretend to nearly 70% of our country is undeveloped let alone inhabited. The United States is resource rich, we just need some bright foreigner to tell us to show up at 9am and work until 5pm and everything will be A OK =) |

I lol'd a lot. It is pretty damn accurate.
We spaniards are all dicks for sure, and most of us "no hablo ingl+¬s" except for a few ones who need it in RL jobs, like me.
I don't understand why people complain about stereotypes. It is true sometimes they are disgusting or just plain stupid, but the culture, the way of life and the character of a country is more or less defined by its people, its history, weather and even food, according to some researchs.
So there are general trends you can expect from each country, or side of the world.
I have travelled abroad around europe and also to several asian countries, and while most people is just polite and kind, after making a few friends from other countries you can see that the general trend is more or less always the same.
For example, South europeans are louder when talking, most of the time we are rude when talking (I meet most of my friends calling them SoB or something worse XD) are more prone to physical contact (kisses, hugs) and have a time table which revolves around the morning and the evening, because in most places in the afternoon is so hot outside, you are better at home taking a nap, and going out later, which you can do because you have more daylight hours than in the northern euro countries.
Japanese on the other side, are quiet, very polite (even with their worst enemies) and will refuse any kind of physical contact (as I discovered when I tried to give the usual meet kisses to the first girl I met there)
You can find people which don't fit to those stereotypes in both countries, but more or less, you will find the vast majority of people will.
