anyway Q to ccp is, what are you planning to do with the walking in stations sounds boring just walking round just to see agents face to face and other players, will we be able to steal ships that arnt locked down or will we be able to pew each other in stations as well? -----------------------------------------------

CCP will iterate on it :P
All seen sofar, is that you can walk around, there will be a few fixed minigames, and over time they want to make a hello kitty crafting economy for clothes and shoes. A bit like 3D avatars on Facebook casual games.
No pvp, in any way or form. No regular other concepts cornerstone to EVE like stealing or such.

You will be able to PvP. You could try and corner the market in pink kilts to make a killing. Then buy all the fluffy slippers in Jita and watch as the forum explodes.
Oh, yes, this expansion will surely move Eve onto the next level.

No crime? Hope they do a turn-about on this, i can see the no combat part, but other ways to screw people over is a must.

They will release it in a broken state where you constantly run into invisible walls and where people never render, then 1 year later when people are really mad about how broken it is they will tell you that they'll fix it, but that their schedule is booked for 18 months and that you might enjoy all the new content that they'll be putting out. Hey if you don't, the new guys sure will.
And then someone will tell you that you're just in the minority and that the silent majority actually do enjoy it when their stuff is broken.

If you want to know about incarna:
Look at PI Look at EVE Gate Look at EVE Forums [v. EVE search] Look at FW Look at SOV system Look at POS system [v. the modular proposed in the forums] Look at Rockets Look at Docking bug Look at Lag Look at Black Screen Look at Ship Models Look at the Primae Look at the Zephyr Look at etc...
You will see that CCP puts it time and effort into what it wants to and not what it doesn't want to, regardless of what the players want, OR even what new players want.
We liked the scorpion, and people wanted the rest of the EXISTING ships updated, new players would love this too - we got a Primae.
We wanted to have FW working and have HS pew, we got a few factional skins that aren't even close to the factional background.
Incarna will be what CCP wants it to be, and nothing more - don't ask, just accept what is and do what you find works.
Me, I mine now 100% of the time. Miner Lasers work, Barge works, Rocks seem to work, Market is crap, but them is the breaks.

Incarna=mainstream appeal=more money=more staff=better potential for game fixes.
No incarna=same appeal as now(nitch)=glass ceiling income=same staff size=same potential to fix problems as now=even more *****ing cry baby whiners=no thanks.

There's no potential for game fixes, or did you not see the part about polished features as opposed to new content?

With the same logic you can remove pvp from Eve and apply a Wow-style approach.
All the hardcore pvp and painfull losses only turn away people. People which would bring a lot of new money. Money which can then spent on hiring new people to improve Eve. Yeah, that make sooo much sense.

Before i answer that are you one of the *****ing cry baby whiners?
Oh schucks ill answer it. No potential for game fixes? Wut? Are you high? CCP stated they werent going to work on the fixes until after the 18 months or so. I am fine with that. Others arent. Thats why the whine fest and public desecration of CCP's image happened. Which i might add is pathetic. |

Well i suppose thats why you arent running the show. They are trying to do both to get EVERYONE interested.
Want to pew pew in space and blow stuff up and accumulate loss? We have it.
Want to wow in stations and have an avatar to associate your character to? We have it.
Want to get some nice fast pacef FPS rolling? Granted it will be on consoles buuuut we have it.

Blessed are the Carebears, for they shall inherit the EvE.
You guys remember Ultima Online? I think I had an account for that game before I started college. There was a major rift between the non-consensual PvP crowd and the Carebears. Carebears won, and the Dev Team built an entirely separate environment for Consenual PvP only. 95% of the subs stayed in Carebear land. <-- good business to service almost all of your paying customers...
I don't know if the population demographics are the same for EvE, but people have stated many times that Low Sec and 0.0 are underutilized.
Anyone have any real facts about which customer type is really paying the bills ?

It's just going to be station spinning.
A whole bunch of toons spinning in circles because if you do anything silly like move you will probably lose an implant or two. :) You can be sure of one thing, we'll get it bugs and all.

As someone who gave UO 9 years of my subscription dollars (off an on) I can honestly tell you the game started dying not long after the Fel/Tram split.
At first, it worked great, but the result was not exactly what Origin had tried to achieve. UO lost a lot of it's character and charm. Player built towns and public locations, with long histories, strong communities, and often featuring buildings and works hand-crafted by friendly GMs were abandoned. The doubled housing, which had been a huge motivation for the split, didn't actually alleviate the housing shortage. The same players who in control of the old land also, by and large, picked up the majority of the new land. Younger players were still "homeless."
PVP essentially died. You speak of consensual PVP, but in truth it was less than that. Because guild warfare in UO alternated between "broken" and clumsy, awkward, and unfulfilling, it was never very popular. Most guilds chose instead simply to role-play the war and fight wherever happened to be convenient. These casual wars died out. The closest thing to PVP, then, was sparring with a guild-mate for skill gains.
With PVP died a bunch of character concepts, builds, and entire skills. Skills like Hiding, Stealth, Snooping, Stealing, Poisoning no longer had a viable use. Characters that people had put a lot of work into, such as thieves, hally mages, anat/poison mages (poison mages were an especially difficult build) were rendered obsolete.
PKs (UO's "reds") weren't quite like pirates in EVE. It was a much more difficult, and dangerous road. Going PK was essentially a one-way trip. Every kill you made meant hours upon hours of play-time needed to "redeem" yourself, should you choose. When you died, you suffered permanent stat-loss. (Not to mention that you were stuck as a ghost unless someone was kind enough to bring you back, or you made a rather lengthy trip to the Chaos Shrine.) And, since guild-war was a waste of time, most PVPer looking for a good time were actively hunting you down. It was a very tough role to play, and most people who did were rather prominent among the community. These people were left in the dust. (I once checked how long it would take my red tamer/mage to work of the kills she had. It was something like 730 or 740 hours. Of actual play-time.)
And then there were the bots. With Trammel, like became safe enough for many players to start running bot program like EasyUO. Why work for gold when your character can gather resources, craft, or even run through dungeons while you're at work? UO's economy fell to **** as inflation started holding back casual players, then continued to get worse. And what value does a 7x GM character you've spent 2 years working on have when you can now achieve the same results in 3 over-night sessions?
Look at the game now: It's a pinnacle of safety and convenience, with each expansion catered toward carebears. And maybe 10,000 people still play it.
--------
Now, obviously, there are some big differences between UO and EVE, and I don't see EVE falling to **** because of Incarna. Rather, I'm just pointing out a huge flaw in your argument. UO DID fall to ****, as a result of compromising successful and proven mechanics in favor of one group of player.
...Sorry, talk of UO always brings out the rambler in me.

I wanted to get into UO back in the day, but at the time I still laughed at someone paying a subscription for a game. I loved the Ultima series though. I think my favorites were Ultima 6 and definately Ultima 7/7 1/2. I had played the earlier ones that were pretty much on the verge of being Nethack. Too bad Ultima 8/9 ruined the series for me.

ccp has probably slashed its staffing numbers so progress will be slower, and they still cant seem to get dust moving
So expect a long drawn out player number decline unless they keep the content coming

Come on guys, all the current info on Incarna is at this point a front for the incredible unveiling of a FPS/stealing/PvPing/completely non-bear-ish in station thing......
Then there will be cries of surprise and joy by the EVE player base!
