How is heat and module HP related? The more hit points a module has the longer you can overheat the module?
Anyone have any more information on heat and modules please?

Most modules have 40 HP. When those HP are reduced to zero due to damage from overheating, the module stops working. You can use Nanite Paste to repair overheat-damaged modules while in space.
The higher your Thermodynamics skill, the longer you can overheat modules. T3 ships can overheat for longer, as the Racial Strategic Cruiser skill gives a bonus to it. Plus, they have the Supplemental Coolant Injector subsystem that gives another overheating bonus. ---------- My typical ship fit:

What I mean is does anyone know the formula that is uses for heat damage. There is the players skill, the module HP and heat damage native to the module that it does to itself.
Not sure if anyone understands what I'm after.

If you open your fitting screen in-game and show info on the modules, it will tell you how much damage is done each activation cycle (automatically modified for your skills). You can calculate how many cycles it will take to make the module fail.
If that's not what you're looking for, then I'm not understanding your question. ---------- My typical ship fit:
