In 0.0 space, many alliances put up Infra hubs and upgrade them to get sanctums and havens (to rat), with the Pirate Detection upgrades.
I absolutely love the new system, but hate the way it updates. You guys have it so it subtracts points every hour. So basically, living in the USA, I'd have to play EVE @ 6 AM (or even 5 AM if its low) in order to keep an infrastructure hub's military upgrades turned on to 5 (by having Military at 5 by 30 mins before DT)
Why do it this way? Its prone to bugging. For example, if I rat and manage to get the system upgrade all the way up to 100% 1-30 minutes before downtime, it still will not apply the upgrade once the server is back up.
Suggestion: Instead of 1% every hour, just take away 24 % a few hours after downtime, and then NOT actually decay every hour. This way, everyone in every timezone is given a fair chance to rat and get their military % back up to 100 every day. Your still making us maintain our systems, but you aren't making EVE into a job...or a cause of sleep deprivation for some of us. It would definately end one of my biggest headaches of trying to help my corp keep these system upgrades online (as I'm sure it would for many others)
I like EVE...but I also like to sleep every now and then. Will CCP please take this into consideration so that maybe I can sleep without losing level 5 military due to my absence during last 5 hours before DT?

If you think its bad with the military upgrade, try the industry index. But yes I agree, the system does need to be reexamined.

Yes it's a massive headache right now isn't it?
But yea, do the same thing for industry (24% all at once, an hour or two after DT). Otherwise, it's just not fair for people in other timezones.

Good idea but they need to put something in to make sure that if DT is extended a little bit, that it still subtracts |

I believe CCP did it so that alliances would be forced to be more "international".
Personally if it's really just you, or a single timezone taking care of the infrastructure hub, it SHOULD be hard.

Ah but theres a problem with that theory.
If you live in Australia, it's about 9 P.M. when downtime happens. We actually lost our Australian players, and tbh why should we need to have to look for more just because they're in the perfect place for this situation? Basically they're in the perfect timezone, and can ensure that their military/industry is @ 100% for downtime.
There are people who live in the UK and the US in my corp. They're usually either busy working or sleeping for the few hours leading up to downtime.
In our normal timeframe of playing EVE, we could rat for hours upon hours a day and still the decay will shave enough percentage points off to knock it out of level 5 for inactivity (for the few hours leading up to dt).
I understand this feature should require some maintenance, but this is just ridiculous. I'm just asking that it be made fair. This new system would STILL require maintenance (and hey, if they increased decay to 50% per day in ONE HIT, I'd even take that over what it's like now).
P.S. I'm actually on now to babysit this system before DT. Its friggin 5:30 A.M.

The indices are meant to keep up sustainibility running all tz's. Aussie/sheep shagger/asian crews need to recruit out of their TZ as well to keep them up so don't feel like ccp is picking on the US. Assuming they work, and have dinner (we'll give some families and assume they aren't fail parents and spouses so put family time first lol) aussies have little time to build up an index pre dt so this part of the world not making out as good as you think we are (I am japan tz, just roll with aussies alot). Stronger US and euro presence makes this much easier. Without em...got many hours of decay to make up for. Was in a decent sized aussie corp...was always room for moar US and Euro tz players though.
think globally, act locally lol.

No-one said it was easy for that TZ just not impossible without missing sleep/work like the other TZs.
A buffer of 8-10 hours worth of decay over the max mark would also solve this problem. -The sword is only as sharp as the one who wields it. Drenzul (My normal internet tag) |

Like if they doubled decay time for the 1st 12 hrs after dt, then stopped it completely until next dt?
Yea that would be fine too, and could apply to both indexes (military and industry)
I suppose it still applies CCP's notion of gradualism as well
I'd support this too, way better than the current system |
