Hello, I'm playing Eve for slightly over a month now. I've done the tutorial missions and taken up mining as a way to make ISK. Altough it gives me ISK I got a bit bored of mining and now I would like to try a bit of pirating. If I understand correctly when I'll start destroying other ships my security status will go down and some day I won't be able to enter highsec space. Is it possible (while paying for only 1 character) to highsec mine AND lowsec pirate? For example one week I'd like to do some mining and the next week some pirating. If not, is it possible to make a living from pirating? What's the average ISK yield from pirating? How many ships do I have to destroy until I won't be able to enter highsec?

You are likely to get the money back to pay for the ammo you tossed at his ship from the loot. Thats about it really. ________________________________________________ Tau - Yeah we suck in close combat. To bad you will never get there. For the greater good!!

In the end you will not be able to pirate and high sec mine on the same character. Though you can have three characters on the same account. Ofcourse you can only have one training skills at any one time.
I know a few pirates that live entirely from piracy. These people tend not to be rich and its a tough life as far as making iskies is concerned. Generally they dont fly pimped out expensive ships and live with their means.
I'm guessing isk per hour is pretty terrible as a pirate, but thats not the point for my pirate friends. They live that life because they love it.

Highsec missions and pirating would e a better combinationfor 3 reasons
1. Skills learned for running mssions will help you in pvp 2.killing npcs in missions raiseds your sec status helping to counter the efects of your pirating 3. In. The end mission running makes more per char then miningin highsec. Maxed out hulk with t2 strips and cystals = 7-12 mil isk per hour in highsec. Faction fit maurader with a decent pilot = 20-50 mi isk per hour in highsec

The thing to keep in mind with pirating (or any PVP) is that you're fighting other players; unlike NPC's, players won't stop hunting you once you get out of their area. EVE has "locator agents" which can let your enemies know where you are (at what station or in what solar system), and if they add you to their contacts list as an enemy, they'll see when you log on and when you log off.
So, basically, you **** someone off (inevitable during PVP), and they will hunt you down whether you feel like mining or not.
That's the main reason why people have a separate character for piracy/PVP. The only way to turn off the revenge attacks is to not log on with that character until you feel like fighting some more.
Otherwise, from a game mechanics point of view, sure, it's possible in theory, just train the appropriate skills, and maintain your sec. status by grinding NPC's in between your piracy sessions.
