Hello all...
I've been a care bear for a while, mining with my alts, and now I want to pick three ships that would make a good fleet together to start running missions. Possibly see some low sec later on, but just missions for now.
I was looking at a Scimitar, a Hurricane, and a Machariel.
The support ships would be the Scimitar and the Cane. The Scimitar for tracking and shields while the Cane does gang assist modules and perhaps a few turrets.
For those who have some experience, does this seem like a good or bad idea for a fleet to run missions? If it is a horrible idea, can you suggest something better?
Thanks for your input.

Not sure if troll.
Any mission you take in high sec will be perfectly soloable by a well-skilled Machariel pilot with a decent fit. The other ships are simply taking his money away.
Take that fleet out to low-sec for some PvP and you'll do some damage, tear people up - up until someone in an intel channel says "THERE'S AN IDIOT WITH A MACHARIAL FLYING AROUND OMFG!". Then you will be swarmed and killed.

I think the best 2 character missioning I ever did (and I don't do it very often, too hectic for me), was a CNR and an Ishtar. CNR, because, well, that's what I normally used, typical Gank/Tank fit, faction pimped. Ishtar because I had a mission fit one sitting around, passive shield tank, with sentries.
Basically go to the mission, pop sentries on the Ishtar and assign them to the CNR. Then what usually (should) happen is that whatever the CNR shoots, the sentries shoot too. Was a nice ~300 DPS augmentation to the CNR.
A Dominix would probably work well too in place of the Ishtar, just load it up with sentry damage rigs and omni tracking links and enough tank that it can GTFO if it gets targeted by a spawn.

If you plan to move out of empire: unscannable and cloaking would be ideal. Not sure about loki's in pve (I use a tengu), but i'm assuming three of them would be quite effective if you had them role split for fleet buffs, damage, and rr.

I would NEVER take 3 of anything that require movement out at the same time. Managing range on 3 Loki's or HAM Tengus (HML Tengus would probably be fine) would be such a PITA, which is why I recommend droneboats that can just assign the drones to your main.

I used to be logistics support for a guy I met through RUN. My contribution was to provide him a remote tank so he could focus his ship systems on DPS. He was flying battleships while poorly skilled, I was flying cruisers while poorly skilled, but together we managed to get through level 4 missions with no problems.
Once he was skilled enough, he no longer required logistics support and I had no purpose in his mission spaces.
I now run missions solo in a Raven or Dominix, or with both my characters, Domi providing shield transfer to the Raven.
Putting three pilots into a mission, you want more DPS. Machariel + 2 hurricanes will be good. Don't bother with warfare links for such a small gang, just follow Brutor tribe philosophy of sticking more guns on those ships. Give the hurricanes a remote repper and cap transfer each, have them transfer cap to each other (you give more cap than you use) while repping whoever's taking damage. Give all three ships a suitable local tank.
TL;DR: 'cane instead of Scimitar, use RR and lots of gank. Don't bother with warfare links for level 4 missions in small gangs.
