I've been looking into invention and what I could expect to make from it. But when looking at the market, there are no T2 blueprints at all, and in contracts they are very limited, mostly to ships. What's the reason for this? Is it simply because they get bought up so quickly or am I missing something?

Yeah I was looking at T2 prices as well as T1 to calculate profit.
There are barely any T2 copies in contract either, especially of modules. For a lot of T2 modules, say missile launchers, there are no contracts what so ever, buying or selling. That is what has me confused.

Tell me what you need, I can get you some :). Oops, that is a market topic...
Due to the difficulty and uncertainty of matching up 'invented' t2 BPCs with t2 manufacturers, you will rarely see the contract system used. Ships are relatively common, partly because building a ship 'on-site' vs. buying it on the market saves a lot on logistics (say, getting it to null space or even low0sec), whereas building or buying a module rarely makes much of a difference (most modules can be shoved in a cov ops or t1 frigate).

Ah ok so you're saying people use the blueprints to build the modules themselves or trade them to corp members etc for them to be built?

Yup, mainly the former (or trade to alts). Copy slots are backed-up, so I ran about a bazzilion copies back with my POS and stockpiled them. Invention slots are pretty accessible, though, and I can run the invention slots w/o a POS.
Also, low-volume items may be more or less controlled (price-wise) by people that own BPOs.

the added value of invention lies in the production of t2 mods so there is no sense in selling t2 bpc's as you make way more also manufacturing them. Occasionally there might be someone selling his overstock, but i wouldn't rely or build a business model on that.

What he said, there's very little profit in selling Tech 2 BPC's, which is why there's only a couple of people selling the odd random thing. Additionally the skills to invent are very similar to manufacture (such as the 2 core science skills) so by the time you've leveled those both to 5 to get the best invention chance, your only a couple of skills away from being able to build whatever it is yourself, throw in mass-production and you make the end-product. --------------------------------------

So to resume you need t1 item copies to invent them and get t2 bpc , bpc that you use to produce t2 item, so you gonna have a cost for invention and a cost for production, that is a reason why you pay t2 items more....so be carefull when you plan to make profit out of t2 items production, the cost will be different and a part of it is related with lucky and not with skills only....go on eve is complicated
