Edited by: Seirkanis on 12/08/2010 03:15:49 Edited by: Seirkanis on 12/08/2010 03:15:04 This evening Black Star Alliance, in particular Wiebles, Matt Fairbanks, and Jekhal, attacked a PVE ship in nullsec. This is not unusual, and does not warrant a warning to anyone.
However, what does is that Wiebles demanded a ransom of 50M for a pod. Against my better judgement it was paid. All three then reneged the offer, demanded a further $100M, and then destroyed the pod.
Burning Technologies [B-T], and by extension Black Star Alliance, are not to be trusted under any circumstances. Do not pay these people ransoms.

I wanna be cool and honour ransoms like the rest. So I'll say.. that I might, or might not, do. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |

This is complete slander towards BLAST. You paid wiebles, and he did honour the ransom, he dropped his point, you failed to pay the other pilots, thats your problem. Oh and it was to my understanding that all posts needed some kind of forum meme, so, umadbro?

Bro - Wiebles let you go. You didn't pay me or Jekhal. We gave you plenty of warning. Don't pay and you'll die.
Also, you just made my day.

Most established pirate organizations honor ransoms, partly because it's part of how they earn their isk. It's generally quite easy to figure out who does and who doesn't. I have for instance been ransomed by both the tuskers and veto, whom both honored my ransom.
What you should be working on however, is learning how to get your pod safe :)

Edited by: Myloko on 13/08/2010 17:04:10 I believe what Seirkanis is saying is that they asked for a ransom of 50M and did not specify 50M per pirate in the fleet and that once he had paid the 50M as first stated by Wiebles that they didn't let him go but demanded a farther 100M on top of the 50M that he had just payed and when he did not comply to something they did not ask for up front as the condition to let his pod go, they podded him.
That was what you were trying to say, correct Seirkanis?

Uh thats utter horse dookie. Asking one amount and getting paid then demanding more as grounds for popping the dude is total garbage. If you get anything atleast respect the code(wtf ever that means) and make a name for yourself.
Ganking a dude that pays is not piracy its pvp with stipulations not respected. Also i am bringing pirates into this because i would love to see the olden days of long lost return.

Ok Seirkanis, obviously you had a math problem... they said 50m each... for 3 people... you paid 50... they said, bro you owe us 100 more... you didn't pay the 100m which would go to the other two pilots... and you got podded...

Oh.. and there is no such thing as piracy in 0.0 .. its called PvP... get over it.

Perhaps it should have been made more clear when the first person covo'd him for ransom? If I were in the podee's position and 1 of a group demanded a sum for ransom, I'd assume that the person is speaking for their corp/group as a whole. In the end, you're collectively out 100 mil isk because of a unclear communication.
I've been in roams where 1 person was designated the ransomer and did the negotiation in group chat with the hapless pilot. Pilots pays the ransomer, and the ransomer then splits up the isk to others as appropriate and you move on to the next target. Honorable and clear cut for all parties involved. It's business.
