That was what you were trying to say, correct Seirkanis?
Yes, precisely.

Uh thats utter horse dookie. Asking one amount and getting paid then demanding more as grounds for popping the dude is total garbage. If you get anything atleast respect the code(wtf ever that means) and make a name for yourself.
Ganking a dude that pays is not piracy its pvp with stipulations not respected. Also I am bringing pirates into this because i would love to see the olden days of long lost return.
That was the point. In 0.0, it's PVP. It's PVP in lowsec and highsec. Attacking out of the blue without a war or specific problem/history/whatever is piracy, just the same as it is in 0.4, or 1.0 for that matter. That's also permitted, and par for the course. Welcome to EVE.
The point here is that it wasn't honored, just as the quoted poster described. Is it legal? Yes. Welcome to EVE. ALL that this accomplished is cheating themselves out of future ISK because more people won't pay their ransoms.
Go complain about "tears" or whatever you want to call it. It only proves that you totally missed the point.

However, what does is that Wiebles demanded a ransom of 50M for a pod. Against my better judgement it was paid. All three then reneged the offer, demanded a further $100M, and then destroyed the pod.
Burning Technologies [B-T], and by extension Black Star Alliance, are not to be trusted under any circumstances. Do not pay these people ransoms.
Well, you learned your lesson, never trust 0.0 alliances or high-sec mission running corps to honor ransoms. --- I smack just for myself. Allow faction cap boosters to be traded via normal market ! |

It appears the ransomers were not clear in what they wanted. I've negotiated hundreds of ransoms and I've always done it as a lump sum. The ransom is paid to me and then I break it up with everyone involved. Everyone else I've flown with who accepted a ransom did it the same way. The proper thing to do with such a misunderstanding is to give the isk back after you pod them. I've done that on a few occasions. It's hard to say someone dishonored the ransom when they refund any isk they received.
As for paying ransoms, professional pirates are typically safe to work out a ransom with. I've always honored them and although my current corp doesn't have a policy on it, everyone in my fleet will honor them or else they are suddenly red to me. Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

If by some miraculous happenstance the British Buccaneers find themselves in a position to ransom someone instead of getting blown up - it depends who is asking you I guess - we might honour it or we might not, since we all like tears.
Feel free to bring the QQ to C&P though!
