i believe its possible to drain cap from NPC's. Try first on a small frigate though, then try on the lvl4 missions.

Yes, you can drain cap from rats. Although I don't think they ever run out. ---------------------------------- I <3 mining. |

Afaik you can drain them but they have a base capacitor + recharge rate and thus you wont be getting much out of em when theyre dry.
Rat modules themselves dont use Power at all i thinks. ---------------------------

As i understand it NPC's dont use cap, and they have a set pool of cap that u can drain. If they recharge its a negligable value. __
There, i just contributed nothing to your thread

EVE-DB listed the recharge being around 1000s I think, with the cap sizes being around 1/5 or something pitiful of the same sized player ship.

The battleships are only good for a few nosses then you get a negligable ammount out of them.

The Object Explorer on Eve-I has a good listing on the stats of NPCs if you're looking to get mathematical...

I use a NOS on npc rats all the time in my punisher.
I haven't really paid a lot of attention to it, but it seems to constantly give me some energy. Really makes running that armor repaier easier.

Actually I tryed out nos..did the maths and noticed no increase. After petition, the response I got from the Dev's/ Gm's, was "Nos doesn't work against npc rats as they don't have the ability to use counter measures. Nos is only designed for pvp, and will remain so".
Although I think this is silly what can we do about it?

Nosferatu's give you cap just fine from npc's, only they don't have much to drain (450cap for most ships...around 100 for some frigs and 1000 for a few other ships).
After you've drained their cap it does not mean that they stop using their guns or shield/repairer.
I don't know what "math" you did and found it not to be working but it works just fine.

I have never seen an npc that gives anywhere near 1000 cap. usually 2 nossies on any ship and they are dry, so about 200 energy per ship. for npc hunting just cycle your nossies as you shoot them :) Yes it works, and yes it can save your life. For a raven pilot like myself nossies provide a slight increase in survival time, along with a pvp setup , in case someone wants to try and gank me at a belt.

Examples: guristas annihilators and terrorists have 850 cap (tried and tested, not just figures on eve-i) ....lots of agent mission specific npc's and rogue drones that even have over 1000...
I don't know if it's intentional, but they do

this should be fixed, they should use cap, if ccp wants them to never stop shooting give them infinite cap, then we can turn their advantage to our too -----------------------------
