Elly Rock Caldari Brotherhood of Musketeers Red Alliance	Posted - 2010.08.21 20:59:00 - [1] Recent events in Insmother/Detorid are epic without exaggeration. They are, if not in form (as everything went pretty boring with no intrigue) but in essence. Most definitely the war in the south-east is about to change the political map of Eve. It is too early to beat the chest and praise the victory for the so-called ôRussian coalitionö. But we can already analyze the ground of its success and draw some conclusions. The campaign against the Atlas Alliance started in late July on several fronts. White Noise Alliance landed in Scalding Pass, major forces of the RUS-coalition (as they informally call Legion of xXDEATHXx, Red Alliance, White Noise with the support of Pandemic Legion) attacked Insmother and its key system C-J6MT. It was obvious that Red Alliance and Legion of xXDEATHXx (that also originates from [RED]) would make every effort to reclaim territories seized from them by the Atlas Alliance nine months ago. It was a matter of principle. However, the forces were insufficient for a blitzkrieg. After several unsuccessful attempts to take hold of C-J6MT system, the military progress was stalled. Bobby Atlas chose a risky, but nonetheless effective tactics. He allowed ærusskiesÆ to attack the station with impunity, but then, fielding his cap-fleet, over and over again he regained control of the situation, forcing the opponents to withdraw. Such methods allowed Atlas to save vigor, though that was an alarming sympthom. Obviously, Atlas lacked stamina to fully protect its territories and with time it had to bend every effort to gather necessary numbers just to defend even the most important objects. æRUSÆ changed their tactics. They pretended to accept the rules of the game and obediently fought on the C-J6MT citadel. Meanwhile however they were not forgetful to nibble on peripheral systems around the capital. Areas under the control of the Atlas Alliance began to melt away, as well as morality of the citizens. The beginning of a collapse was imminent. Still Bobby retained his military capability. The notorious "cap-roller" like the Sword of Damocles hanged over the Russian coalition and posed a serious threat. And then RUS dared the bold attack, which was hardly expected of them, by Bobby and everyone. 0-W778, the Detorid capital of Atlas, was sieged and invaded. Deliberately and methodically ærusskiesÆ took control of the system, plugged all the exits and locked the cap fleet of Atlas within the station. It was rather sudden. Several times the Atlas fleet tried to escape but suffered defeat, losing cap-ships and support. The blockade was tough and the jinn was imprisoned in a bottle. Finally on August 20, after several weeks of hard labour the remarkable goal was achieved: station in 0-W778 was reinforced and captured by PL. One day after that C-J6MT surrendered, too.These events are indeed a turning point in the campaign. 0-W778 was a major trade hub and lots of Atlas assets (and pilots) have become blocked in the station. Carebeer corps, that have served as a shield for Bobby, flee like rats from a sinking ship, cursing the one who yesterday was almost a god for them. The "god" himself, who claimed 0-W778 and C-J6MT to be impregnable, could not oppose anything against the combined supercap of æRUSÆ. Do not accuse Bobby Atlas of cowardice. With local above 1200 and a hundred of supercaps at the undock he had no chance to withstand the blow. As a smart man, he preferred to retain if not dignity, but at least the fleet. But why did allies leave Atlas? Everything has its cause and effect. Who would have guessed that the miserable crusade of SC against the North will be the first link in the chain of failcascade and trigger global downfall of the Atlas Alliance? Was it fatality, bad luck or a logical consequence?

It was then that Bobby publically accused his partners of incompetence and expressed himself in the way that since now on it would be him to dictate the rules. Is it any wonder that after the attack of æRUSÆ the great and terrible Bobby blew the battle horn but not all, to say the least, of his allies chose to hear the appeal? People are not always eager to forgive megalomaniacs. Nevertheless, Against All Authorities [-A-] did move to help but never arrived. They themselves were unlucky to lose lots of caps these days and had their own troubles to deal with. The Initiatives [INIT.], the fearless mercenaries, learned the lesson of AAA and chose to abstain. Red.Overlord [ROL] rose to the occasion and brought... 30 HACs to the battlefield. No comments. In short, Atlas was left on his own and now it is not even important why - whether you blame it on excessive ambitions or inability to treat friends properly. Losers are not wanted, nobody likes them. Short-sighted ones are even more so. This is not the first empire in history, that swelled from the seizure of foreign territories. This is not the first empire, gone fat, that fell from the raids of wild nomads. And this is not the first empire, that forgot what it takes to tease the Russian bear and paid for the negligence. Maybe at least in such a way Bobby would finally do his homework on history. Be that as it may, it is only the beginning. We are in for an interesting season in the autumn-winter 2010.
