After the latest round of optimizations then Jita reached 1560 pilots tonight. Previous record was 1420 with the node fully loaded.

The changes we made will have a positive effect on all loaded nodes in the cluster with Jita and Fleet Fight nodes benefiting the most.

Originally by: Lithalnas With 1.5k people in system, mod activation lag was bearable at 3-5 seconds. Deactivation lag was also not to bad at 15 seconds. Docking and undocking lag was also in normal 'jita' range.
Now move this same scenario to null sec where every single ship is activating mods to the count of hundreds of thousands of different things going on.
This particular optimization will apply there as well. It applies to all nodes and benefits most those that are heavily loaded (both long-term and short-term).
Jita is heavy on the Inventory System (items being moved back and forth, market items being bought and sold) and it also has other services active like other empire systems, such as Crime Watch (inter alia CONCORD). In systems in 0.0 then the Damage Tracker is most active but there is no Crime Watch there.

Progress is progress.
Thank you.

Originally by: Illwill Bill This is nice, really. I would, however, like to know how the chase for the real lag monster is proceeding, if you guys are able to divulge any information on that matter.
As far as I can see, this does not tackle the problem that appeared with the changes in Dominion. The last thing I read was that you were looking at some very old code. Has this yielded any results?
Yes, and there are upcoming dev blogs on the progress so far.

Although not as large as Jita then there are sizable markets in Amarr, Dodixie and Rens.

Why is the Inventory System running on the Location Node? Cant you decouple the stations/hangars/market-inventory from the node the space-simulation is running on? Cant you decouple ship-spinning from the Location Node?
Anyways.. nice Jita-Crowd-Record
The inventory system is all pervasive; when you transition between systems via a stargate, or jump bridge, or whatever, you're being removed from the inventory of one solarsystem, and added to another. There's also recursive checks for things like drones which have to recognise that the owner is no longer in the same location, and must therefore go inactive, and so on.
The inventory system is the bookkeeper for EVE, but since it is so fundamental it's definately one of the systems we're reviewing for performance bottlenecks.
