Has anyone noticed that EVE is used as a performance image in the features of the imac section on apples website.
I just thought that was super cool.

I know this is like shoveling **** against the tide at this place, but your paying for good design in both product engineering, software, and aesthetics. As a designer, I can appreciate the level of detail and beautiful minimalism that Apple produces versus the rather tacky, plastic, glowing-neon PCs with a thousand extra useless buttons and gadgets hanging off them that are out there.
Not to mention Mac's are built with pretty much all aluminium and glass materials, and the screens don't use the ****ty TN panels with horrible color reproduction like 99% of all LCDs out there.
There is a reason why so many PC companies copy Apple's beautiful aesthetic design.
But all you lot care about is the hardware and you still don't understand why a Mac costs more, I get it... don't worry.

Why are you comparing Apple design to that of PC's? After all, Apple are a mobile phone company.

You completely missed everything I said didn't you? Your argument would be better suited to "HP pre-built PCs are for morons who don't wan't to assemble their own computers"
Because you can really assemble anything that looks remotely like a Mac, am I right?

No delusion needed. It's just a matter of caring (or not caring) about what other people think of your own choices, or, for that matter, caring about the choices other people make. Since you care, by the sounds of it, you have a hard time conceiving why someone wouldn't care.
Don't try to turn this around. You may as well be saying people frequently dress up in their best clothing for an evening at home alone.

Funnily enough, I know people who do that. And the example works the other way around as well: just because people dress one way in public doesn't mean they actually like that style or want to do the same at home. I use windows machines in public; at home, I use OSX, SuSE and Windows, and not because it makes me cool (because obviously it doesn't), but because it serves my purposesà which have a lot to do with lack of noise and clutter, as it happens.
As for turning things aroundà well, if you can conceive of not expressing yourself through your possessions, you shouldn't have any problems understanding the difference between personal aesthetic preferences and the outward projection of a persona. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

I posted about this 2 months ago in reference to the lag and their spending of rl isk for advertising and not on their hardware...
If only apple users realised you only need a gen1 intel macbook to run eve...and not spend all your monies on a new shiney one...same performance etc...oh and yes.. its been tested.
Anyway...they should have stuck something nicer than a rifter on the image =/

Apple used to be cutting edge for 2 reasons:
1. Better Operating system 2. The architecture of they processors was superior.
They sold out to Intel and anyone can have linux for free now, so their advantages are gone. They operate solely on brand name recognition and advertising these days.
Their OS is still superior to Windows. That does not mean much however.
When you say "fanboi" try to picture a fat man doing burlesque with 2 big ass fans that say CCP on one and HTFU on the other. Because that dude is me. |

The only thing superior to Linux is Linux itself.
Anyway how long did it take for Apple to get hacked at the last hacker convention? Look it up and you'll see how superior Apple are to Windows. They're so super they refuse to fix security holes for years and are now recommending Antivirus and if they're not they're responsible for their gullible cult followers for getting hacked and conned on the net.
Anyway, Apple are in bed with MS and that's pretty obvious, so, all this fanboy arguing is a waste of time. The only thing that matters is that Apple want to milk their customers far more than anyone else. That is why I refuse to buy any crApple products.
CrApple? Orly? Nah, I'm joking, the constant battery fiasco's of the iPods and iPhones are a figment of my imagination. No wait... they had to pay the sheeple back because they were facing a massive class action suit they couldn't possibly have won
Originally by: London Not to mention Mac's are built with pretty much all aluminium and glass materials, and the screens don't use the ****ty TN panels with horrible color reproduction like 99% of all LCDs out there.
Indeed, what would we do without yellowing screens?
I love it when you guys come on these forums to defend crApple when that company constantly sends out defective screens without even looking at them because 'new features sell better than polished ones'. Damned! CCP been taking lessons from Apple?
I have a five year old iPod and it's the last Apple product I've bought and will buy. I absolutely hate that **** iTunes and use a Winamp plugin. The battery died years ago and won't hold a charge, even though it's hardly been used, but then that's by design. And I use my Omnia II for music and everything else, since I can simply drag and drop. Also I have Copy and Paste, something I can't live without, and can run 8 programs on it simultaneously despite it's 256MB RAM. I'd love to see the much more expensive iFail 3G****e do that.

Dude, form vs function. You favor form, I favor function. You are willing to pay more for better aesthetics than I am, while I may be (since I don't know your thoughts on the matter) more willing to pay more for better performance. It's not a matter of "understanding", it's a matter of personal preference.

This. I built a PC, for much cheaper than an equivalent one would've costs, and it probably runs better too. However, I needed a laptop (ok, maybe wanted) because I travel a lot and like to have a computer. I had had a Dell laptop previously and tbh it was a piece of ****, I think it lasted 6 months before I had to send it in for repairs.
Macs are expensive, but besides the aesthetics, I find them to be much better quality in hardware, too. I've never had a problem with mine after 2 years, except having to buy a new battery (but after 2 years, I'm cool with that).
I could buy a fancy Alienware or XPS laptop and have it break after a year, or I could buy a Macbook Pro for a little bit more money and have it last much longer.
edit: On that note of "superior hardware", I'd still take a custom built PC any day, but I can't do that with a laptop. I would NEVER buy an iMac or a Mac pro (the desktop versions).
