Reading some comments I just get the feeling some people don't know the meaning of "irony"...
To the OP:
Those gankers do bring some benefits though - you use more electricity (your supplier likes you!), you use your computer more, meaning you need to replace parts more often (your store likes you!), you go drink a cool beer to drown your frustration (your brewery likes you!) etc :-)

People who uphold these convention do not give a cr4p about you or anyone else for that matter. They don't even give a single mouldy cr4p about people who wrote the conventions in the first place. All they care for is their salaries and political influence inside the cubicles they work at. It's a small and mean-hearted world.
