I am new to EVE and I would like to be a good pilot in the EVE universe, but there is a problem.
Currently, I mine Veldspar in high sec space, but I am starting to find that the method is fairly inefficient when it comes to acquiring Isk. What other paths could I acquaint myself with for earning Isk quickly?
PS: My present goal is to obtain a Megathron Gallente Battleship, which is about 133 million Isk. I don't have the skills yet, but they are in the process of being trained. |

As a point of reference... right now it is possible for a 3 day old toon to make that amount of isk in about 30 minutes. Stop mining, it is work for bots and Chinese isk farmers. |

There are a whole lot of different ways to earn isk in eve, one of the most efficient when you are new is running the encounter (read: fighting) missions. This is because many other methods of earning substantial sums require an in-depth understanding of the game mechanics, which you are unlikely to have at an early stage.
The important thing though is that you find a way to earn an amount of isk that allows you to enjoy EVE as much as you can - it is a game after all.
For many mining is exceptionally boring, and if you are one of them I would suggest trying out some of the options for PVE as this is where most earn their ISK. This could be through running missions for agents, exploration, incursions etc. There are many good guides out there for each, do a little searching and you should be able to find them.
For the sake of ease I'd suggest trying missions first as these have the easiest and often best developed resources such as www.eve-survival.org but don't stop there, try the others and find the one that suits you best.
If PVE doesn't suit you and you fancy being an industrialist, have a read through the science and industry channel, particularly paying attention to anything written by Tau Cabalander. This should help you to get the best chance to hit the ground running.
I had a long day at work so I'm not sure if I'm rambling or not, but hopefully there was something in there that remained coherent and helpful |

You'll make more from mission running, combat related ones. I think serious mining requires multi accounts. Hey but fine with one account if you like it. imo trader pays better, better than mining at least, though is a far bigger risk. But you gotta decide if you want to make your way with combat or non-combat careers, then stick to one for a while. Nothing will make you good ISK at this point, apart from scamming if you get lucky there. Get a career down and then you'll make ISK over the long run. Fun = best. |

I appreciate the responses.
I will agree that mining is particularly boring for me, and it has taken me a long time to earn the retriever that I am currently flying. My hope is to get involved in PvP eventually; henceforth, I think I will begin to participate in PvE and combat missions. It seems more fun than mining by a long shot.
Surprisingly, I haven't done the encounter missions, but I have been watching EVE player walkthroughs from EVE University, and the missions seem to be very useful to a new player.
I know that I will not be involved in the industry aspect of the game for quite a while, because I cannot go into low sec space for the needed ores, but as I become more skilled, the opportunity to be involved in the market may open up.
I know I will take the combat career path, but how (ship type, missions, etc...) should I start? |

Core skills for sure. No matter the ship, your core skills will count into it/them. Research what style of pvp you may be interested in, review the ships used, and work towards that. Otherwise, PvE, a good/common spot to work towards are the battlecruisers. But that just depends on your long term plans and if that works into it. Combat opens up a lot of choices, really. |

If you have done the tutorials, Find a regional navy and start doing lvl 1's for them use a destroyer or tier 3 frigate you can fly. Use the agent finder very powerful tool for new players.
Use the mission survival link to check damage types and agro groups before you go in, so you can maximize tank and dps for the missions.
Do not loot or salvage lvl 1's and lvl 2's. They are meant to be blitzed: I.E. you do the least amount of work possible to get the green check mark for completed. You string a bunch of them together back to back. When you are offered story line missions from other agents every 10 completed missions or so make sure to accept them as they will boost your standings with other factions and will have tidy rewards. If they offer you a mission fighting empire factions like: amar gallente, minmitar etc, ignore those as they will hurt your standings with the major empires.

Now get out there and start killing rats! Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.comI Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers. |

Why do you want this battleship? What do you intend to do with it? |

I found it much easier (although many would consider it even more boring) making ISK trading during those first couple of weeks. From what I hear mining gets profitable if you have better skills, can afford those ORE ships and are part of a corporation. None of these are required for trading in station. Also joining a good corporation in general can help you get your feet off the ground. At the very least make some friends out there. |

You are a part of a 0.0 corp go to them and ask for help it's the fastest way to get isk until you can by a battleship, i don't know how it's currently on drone regions but a lot of people in 0.0 don't loot or salvage and they can let you keep it
Note: don't forget to get a way to bring that to high-sec to sell |
