Also, that EVE Store's shipping prices are high is kinda old news.
I'm going to buy **** anyway, with the FB code I'll have a $10 discount, and I won $50 a while ago. That means I will get stuff worth $60 for that shipping cost. I'm happy.

Maybe they've got a contract with DHL and CCP will be spanked if they use another shipping firm. But what do I know. |

This might not help the OP, but if you are in Europe and want those cool eve-online faction-tshirts, try
http://www.elbenwald.de/Kleidung/Herren/Gamer-Fashion/EVE-online-T-Shirts
The shirts are about 20Ç and the shipping outside Germany is only 10Ç.
I've bought them all except of the minmatar one :D
Quality is good and they are original JINX label.

I planned to buy few t-shirts once, before I saw the shipping price. It's ridiculous compared to prices of other online shops.

I would really like to buy a T or hoodie, but as everyone else has stated the shipping is twice the price of the stuff you want to buy.
CCP would make plenty of cash still, authorising other manufactorers in other countries the rights to print their logos and stuff.
I mean, one could go to a T printing place with a image on a USB and get it done pirate style but i happy to pay CCP for a cool T just not to have it hand delivered by the CEO himself on a private chartered flight.

If they had any sense at all, they'd redistribute things in Europe from their new Newcastle office. Chances of that happening? Yeah right.
I have to deal with shipping from the US to Europe for work and UPS gets the best cost for wholesale shipping using there mail innovations from the US but its slow.
Its still expensive and the best option is more localisae distribution. That said, even shipping from central Europe, if the package is 2 kilo's for instance, it still might cost the equivlient of 20 USD.
Shipping for companies is quite complex due to landed costs and harmonisation codes. Unless your in the EU, US or Austrialia, you'll often find import tax and duties on the shipping itself is more expensive than the product. Thats not CCPs'fault.

If it's not, then please explain why other companies can ship from the USA to europe for about 20% of CCP's shipping costs.

It makes you wonder if it'd be cheaper to go to fanfest, fill your suitcases full of the big ticket items from the EVE Store (ship models, large posters, art books and such) drag them home and open up a little ebay store selling them with USPS or similar carting the stuff around.
I'm pretty sure you could do all of that and still turn a tidy profit compared to the P&P charges the store imposes.

Without working at CCP I can't tell you exactly why because I don't know what there fulfillment options are.
The costs are probably down to there shipping options (depending on your quantities, weights, if you want tracking, delivery time scales etc which factor into the quote you get from the shipper on your baseline costs per lbs/KG), if they are VAT registered or not (being VAT registered is extremely expensive, 10's of thousands of USD to register in just a few countries but its cheaper for the consumer, I suspect they are not!), taxes and import duties, its very complicated for something so simple.
Can't really say much more than that.
Just count yourself lucky you don't live in Brazil. Your VAT and duties shipping from the states means you'd pay around 400% tax on the product and then about 170% tax on the shipping.
FYI UPS are cheaper than FedEx when shipping from US to EU.

I got a crate of stuff from Chivalry Sports (US based) for 10us$ of S&H (shipping to italy). CCP asks for 5 times as much for their Eve Tabletop Game shipping.
I told them I'll be happy to buy from them when they beat some sense in the shipping service or find a distributor. I'm not going to spend 50eu in S&H for 45eu of merchandise, of course.

To be honest that tabletop game is obscenely heavy. Saw one in a store and was gonna buy it but decided the chances of me carrying it home without a hernia were pretty slim. $50 shipping costs for that is a bit more reasonable than $30 shipping costs for a shot glass.

If you as a costumer of the boat don't pay for it, who does? However, you might want to consider a few things, first of all; I now have one of those annoying sigs. second; you should probably move on to some more interesting things than reading this sig.

Sometimes fansites run contests with sponsorships from CCP. Some of the prizes may include PLEX and store gift certificates. Many times when we run a contest that involves prizes we will post it in the news section. So if you see a news post of a fansite using store gift certificates you may want to consider doing the contest. Sometimes the gift certificates include a free shipping coupon; however, it does not include any additional customs charges that may occur with shipment.

How about setting up a second EVE-store/distribution centre in Europe?

I know we are exploring other shipment options outside of FedEx. Nothing has been confirmed yet but, more information should be coming soonÖ.

Yeah after that disappointment I tried some other items but it was still pretty embarassing. I considered getting together with some friends to divide shipping but... well, my RL friends are of the WoW persuasion, sadly :p If I see it in shops I'll buy it. I don't think that'll ever happen in italy tho... not in my lifetime at least :|

yes but it does NOT cost 30+ dollars for a shot glass, I send a fair amount of game related items to UK, not tons but a couple a month maybe. Controllers, memory cards, games themselves and they cost under $10 to send USPS priority (I'm assuming priority iternational). I order stuff from Japan as well and get EMS shipping (which is like 2-3 days tracked) and for largish somewhat heavy items (for hobby items, models diecast stuff etc...) it costs me like 20-30 dollars.
They are either using a ******ed shipping service and are unwilling to use USPS or just charge an asston for shipping and handling (I live in the US if it wasn't obvious, east coast).

why dont u move your eve store out of iceland into the uk for eu sales and open a store in usa for north american sales.
then u could have much cheaper shipping costs by being able to use the standard mail services. SIG: Yes u can have my stuff really u can!... its all located in Jita Planet 4 Moon 4 Caldari Navy Assembly Plant.... if u take ownership of the station u can have it!! |

I'm surprised CCP aren't using authorized re-sellers as I'm pretty sure the commission on it would far outweigh what they make from a limited north American market themselves. Or why they don't have an EU and Asian shipping option - you don't even need to do that yourself there's tons of companies who do nothing else.

Don't forget the "random customs check" charge. I bought a 50 euro item several months ago, and on delivery I was told I had to pay 60 euros extra because my package had been randomly chosen for a search by customs.
I told him to go **** himself.

Problem with the likes of FedEx is that the base cost is really high. Shipping 5 shirts costs very similar to shipping 1 shirt.
Just had a look at the USPS site, and you can ship 1lb in a small packet to the UK for under $11. Delivery times vary and aren't fast, but I think most people would prefer slower and cheaper. If you're going to a party and need an Eve t-shirt to impress a girl, you really should have thought about it more than 2 days ahead.
