The success of a coalition in Eve surely has to do with numbers however, in order to achieve great numbers, you need to have leaders able to grow up the ranks, nurture and keep them together in the best cohesive way possible. Many times I have seen corp leaders that, eventhough they are good PvPers, know the game inside out, and have great amount of ISKs, constantly fail in growing a simple corporation just because they lack RL leadership skills. In my opinion, the biggest challenge in this game is not to become the best PvPer, fly the biggest or most powerful ship, or amass the most amount of wealth. The biggest challenge in the sandbox, is to be able to influence a massive amount of people to join you in your projects, and this, on a long term basis. If you are able to do that, your success as an alliance leader (or as a group of alliance leaders) is almost guaranteed. I think (and you can argue with me on that) that it is way more difficult for a corp leader in Eve to keep an engage and loyal force within is ranks then it is in a RL corporation (such as the aerospace company I work in). People in Eve don't need a job to pay their bills. In a virtual world such as this game, if a corp (or alliance) member gets to a point that he no longer wants to stay with you (for whatever reasons), usually the decision is very easy. He just leaves!! If you cant keep your ranks, you are doomed to fail. It`s as simple as that. I am sure, that one of the biggest concerns of NC leaders (if not the biggest) is not who will attack and where. It is how they can keep their members happy, loyal, and effective as a team. Lets face it, if this aspect starts going wrong within the NC, things could crumble very quickly. Right now, this is not happening and it is why so many are frustrated when looking at the NC. The NC got big and are staying solid as a rock. Good job everyone!!

As for the leadership comments, considering how Vuk goes against everything he says in the CSM and is a complete hypocrite I wouldnt give their leadership much credit, especially considering one of his focuses was to æend Blob warfareÆ -.- I dont really care much about honoUr and the other stuff, people can play dirty as much as they want, having everyone NAPed isnt playing dirty, Goons play dirty or did until they became renters, so you will never here me complain about spies, traps or anything like that. In this 0.0 chess game NC hold all the pieces which in effect make them the winner, I donÆt really care much about who does what and besides NC only invaded Bob last time because they had no alliance, I would hardly say thatÆs classed as honourable especially when their propaganda said they they everything alone. I have always compared all 3 coalitions with each other from the start, I frequently said "NC = SC" but I also said if either coalition loses a major alliance in its ghost / non-ghost coalition then by default the other coalition is the winner. From the start of my bitter campaign the issue was 3 major NAPs running the show making 0.0 nothing more than NAPville making it impossible for smaller alliances to become anything more than a renter / pet / roamer, but as days went by SC closed its doors to numbers DC stuck with what they had, however NC continued to grow and not in a polite BFF way. Leadership in NC stated years ago their undying love for each other started because they hated Bob having soo many blues, but even as Bob collapsed NC grew. This is nothing todo with leadership, the ONLY reason the caod ban is on their main alliances is because NC much like every other alliance brags about being better than everyone else which is purely why alot of alliances were against them in the first place. In case it has slipped you mind NC frequently after MAX spammed ôwhat you going todo? You cant possibly take all of us onö, seems like they have the same egotistical issues as other alliances. As for loyalty and friendship, the NAP train is there only for security because the northern cancer feels threatened, after WI lost geminate horribly because Rawr wanted to defend moons rather than their 'friends' the leadership decided the following "we need to have more numbers in case we get attacked on both fronts", for an elite alliance with soo much skill you would think their future wouldnt be limited to "get more NAPs". As I have said before the issue is the NAPs, always has been especially since strategies in war involve node crashing and ohh yeah thats it. -- Recruitment now open!!

Solution: Change diplomacy, change it in a way to promote multiple wars, where people spend less time NAPing and more time fighting because right now (similar to some guys signature on SHC) all that happens is one side gets X people, other side gets X+1 then other gets X+2 and eventually the node crashes with everyone fighting on forums or against a black screen. Not sure what you are talking about but id have to disagree with you. There was the fall of ATLAS, the fighting between MM, PL, and the russians. Also we had ncdot. hitting us in fountain. And as far as ur comments bout the NC being fat and lazy...every single day i log on theres constant reports of WI, goons, and TEST all over the south. Other than personal attacks.. it seems that the OP wants to feel that his corp/alliance can make a difference in the grand scheme of things. What he doesn't realize is that no one, inside and outside of EVE, cares about any single two bit alliance. What attracts people to this game is the feeling of being involved in the struggles of great powers. That is why the NYT writes about EVE. The reality is, the OP COULD have an alliance that matters. He could start to make friends with other Alliances. He could create a NAP and create a block of Alliances that could mount a real challenge to the NC. It IS possible, but it takes a huge amount of time and commitment to pull off. The leaders of these large alliances and those who do the administrative work for them have a massive task. So massive that they seldom get to actually PLAY the game anymore. Indeed EVE becomes about how to best serve the needs of their membership, rather than a drive to find :goodfites:. I look south and it seems that, in many ways, NAPs there take what they see as the same steps as the NC. They place "pet" and "meatshield" alliance to protect themselves. They treat junior partners poorly and engage in ego trips. Pretty much everything that you say makes the NC successful (with much bitterness) is tried, but they still fail. The question becomes: If those techniques are so successful, why can't others replicate that sucess? It shouldn't be hard. Get some "pets", use people.. NAP up as many as possible and you should automatically win! At least by the logic I have seen from Musical Fist. If it was a matter of mechanics, it should be quite simple. That it hasn't been replicated by using those techniques means that there must be something more invovled. You call the NC "unskilled". What you are talking about is skill in PVP and really nothing else. There seem to be those that think this should be the ONLY qualification for success in EVE. In just about any other game they would be correct. But what they are missing is that the REAL game of EVE doesn't happen on a CCP server someplace. The real game happens in the background on countless jabber and IRC sessions. It happens in TS and Vent between entities who each have their own goals and ideals, who can put aside differences to work together towards a shared end. The NC has shown amazing skill in diplomacy, logistics and leadership. Skill in PVP.... that isn't even on the same level. Those are real life, srs bsns skills that take talent, time and effort to master. Being good at PVP is just being good at a video game.
