ok, so I had about 5 storyline missions stacked up in my journal. yes, I know, I procrastinated a bit since they were all about 15 jumps away. Anyway, I went out to do them, and once I docked in the storyline agent station, the stupid agent tells me that he's busy and tells me to go away. I relogged, and that mission offer was gone. I still had about 3 days left till the mission expires.
I decide to head to the other 4 missions, and the agents tell me the same thing. At the end, all my missions disappeared. i check my standings, and there are no losses. It looks like I've never been given any of these storyline missions.
I ended up making about 80 jumps for nothing.
Can this be fixed please. It was an awful waste of time.

Had this happen too. Maybe they time out after 24 hours like normal mission offers, eventhough they shouldn't.

It seems that you can only have one storyline mission active. Have had the same problem, 16 jumps " i'm busy" figured i go to the other agent. did that mission and then the first mission disappeared from the journal to.
But i've also had missions disappear that wasn't due until dec. 29 but after DT this sunday it was gone. Not to sad about that one thou ( 17 jumps ).

I too had this problem. I had 5 missions ready to go, travelled to the first and couldn't talk to agent. Had a convo with GM, told that the mission was borked in some way and i wouldn't be able to complete that one (i was told that if i couldn't complete it i wouldn't get a standing hit or if i did it would be reversed).
I gave up on that one and tried to open convo withn the other agents. i could speak with 2 of them but not the others. i still had 5 missions in my journal. spoke with one of the agents and accepted the mission. With that my journal updated to mission in progress and 3 of the missions disappeared.
For me the loss of the missions wasn't too much of a big thing seeing as one that i lost meant travelling through >0.5 space for 4 jumps and saved me about 30 jumps in total.
If you covo and are asked to meet the agent at their station the mission will most probably be borked if you get "do you have any work for me?" or something similar you should be able to complete... can someone confirm this for me please

Lucky you! I haven't been offered a single storyline mission since Exodus arrived and my standing and social skills are very good

Same here, today I had 2 missions disappear this way - out of 3, so probably only the most recent one worked.
We're talking about faction standing increase here, it's not like you get these mission offers all the time, so this really should be fixed (and the standing increase or at least the mission offers reimbursed, for that matter). |

Edited by: Altaireus on 30/12/2004 09:50:26 Journal displays expire time for important mission offers as being 7 days, but is in reality only 24 hours. Expired important missions doesnt get removed until you try to talk to your agent.
annoying? yup.

That sounds like a bug. If you think it's reproduceable, please report it to http://bugs.eve-online.com/.

This might be the case...
However I also have some advice... DO NOT DOCK WITH THE AGENT TO ACCEPT THE MISSION
Accept the misison via a convo with the agent after he offers it to you via an evemail...
then fly at leisure to the system and do the mission....
This has always worked for me, after a cupla "disappearing offers"

LOL.. Sorry, but I am still mailing back and forth with another GM trying to explain him about 2 missions just vanishing from my journal as soon as I came within 1 jump of my destination. Nowhere did I read in his replies that I had to report it as a bug. Still trying to make clear to him they just vanished from my journal.
Better to try and fail, then to fail due to not trying |

If even the GMs are not aware of the full extent of the problem, solid bug reports are even more important
It helps immensely with finding and fixing bugs, if the BugHunters have detailed information how to reproduce the bugs on the Test Server. In your case, for example, that would include names and locations of your normal and storyline agent, the name of the mission, the time that passed between you getting the storyline offer and it disappearing, if you talked to the agent before ... and anything else you think that could be useful. And send it all to http://bugs.eve-online.com/, it most likely doesn't reach the right persons if it is only posted here in this forum.

Problem in this is that by disappearing from my journal I have no way to retrieve the information regarding the agent's name, location or mission. So I wouldnt know how to get that information to the bugreportlistings. It's not asif I am sitting here and writing every detail of a storyline mission on the notepad or on a piece of paper. However the last storyline mission I have does have an entry in my notepad now, if that one vanishes I can make a more detailed bugreport.

JimmySav is correct. You should talk to the agent in Space, and not docked. You can accept the offer this way. Complete the mission and then talk to the agent docked. You will still get the "Too Busy to talk", but the mission will complete and you will get the bonuses/rewards.
