Catchy subject no? Ok this isn't going to be some mega post about outing probably the only 100% trustworthy person in eve and im sorry to anyone that wanted me to post something like that. This is a thread about lotteries.
Back in the day eve lotteries were a bit different to how they are now. You would have say 35, 40 or 45 tickets for sale, people would choose their number(s) and post them in the thread. The winner was determined by something outside of thew game but verifiable to as many people as needed (say the first ball drawn in a state lottery on a pre-set date). These were mostly fare to the customers (in that they were hard to subtly cheat with, the scam was to just do a runner with the isk at the end and not give out a prize, something you could only do once per alt). All was well.
Then Chribba came along and changed things up a bit. Using his trustworthy status in eve he started the first 100+ ticket game (I think it was actually over 9000 tickets). The game went well and someone walked away with a titan (ie, he stayed trustworthy), but the damage was done. Overnight almost all of the lotteries changed in to 100+ ticket games, many of them with no way of knowing who had bought what number or even how the results were chosen. The scam potential for this type of lottery is huge.
So why did Chribba decide to make it so the scammers had a much easier time? Does he in fact have a scamming alt? Was he paid off? Did he in fact not know what he was about to unleash on to the eve universe?? And when we people realize that they are ALL being scammed? And yes, I mad that my lottery scam didn't go so well so im trying to take you all down...
Any questions?

Lana, good point. I have a thing or two to say against several other lottery runners and so called "trusty" third party services. You know who you are. I will release this information in due time.

Bah. I won a hulk from a big lotto using Chribba's dice. I quickly lost it shooting at wspace rats which is fine cause I dont mine anyway and it sucked at shooting stuff but I digress
Why would Chribba need to scam. Seems to be doing very well for himself cashing in on his rep already, and really I think it would be kinda anti-climactic of him to pull some stupid stunt no matter how big it was, all his work and rep blown for an entertaining 80 page thread then everybody;d just move on yawn.
My conspiracy theory is he's actually a ccp alt as part of some level of baseline stability policy
But the bottom line is simply put, someones gotta be chribba, why not chribba, and haters gonna hate..

While it indeed seems like lottery scammers have gotten an easier time the reason why I did not go with the earlier "let's use the bonus ball on MegaLottery Weekly on CNN" was the simple reason that the winner can be drawn when the lottery is over and thus making the whole process more streamlined.
Imagine my over 9000!! ticket lottery selling out in one day, when I estimated it to take a month - and thus saying let's wait for the bonus ball next month, long wait. And the other reason I chose to move away from that is because of the number of tickets and there really isn't any suitable method of randomly chose the winner based upon eg bonus balls and the likes, if the bonus ball ranges from 1-50, what chance do the other 51-9000 ticket holders have?
So for me it was a simple way of getting around a whole lot of problems that occur when the ticket numbers exceed 50.
As to why there was so many others following, I have no idea, it was never the intention to make the lottery thing like it is today, as even I think it has gone a little bit out of hand, but then it probably the FOTM when it comes to selling stuff. Frankly I didn't expect the lottery thing to turn to what it is today at all.
And yes it was a catchy subject, I thought you had the forum warrior status to get enough attention without using false subjects... Which brings me to the question... have you been slacking?

That is simply too easy imo. You can be trustworthy to an incredible level, but you are now simply abusing that trust. Use a public way, a total transparent way of doing things. If people have to wait 1 month (or whatever) for all the tickets to be sold, it will not be such a damage to them to wait some more days for a public draw.

I'm trying to eat port wine cheese and crackers, but the crackers are too weak to withstand the pressure of a knife spreading the cheese on it. The end result is that the crackers break before I can get the cheese on it, and makes a mess.

I am not saying chribba is a habitual scammer or has ever even intentionally scammed or wronged anybody..
I am however saying that he has yet to give me the collateral to the 10 utus. So until he makes good on that I am not going to be useing him or any third party for that matter.

Do you think things through at all? I mean, except stating the obvious (to all normal persons at least), this is natural behavior. Chribba made something he though was interesting, other people got greedy. ALL lotteries are basically scams, look into it.
Suck it up and try harder for your next scam, this is weak. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Obviously the lotteries that Chribba is involved with are not as ethical as the ones you might be acquainted with In Real Life. You know, the ones that claim to fund schools, or public health, or trustworthy government- easily proven, concrete goals that we can all get behind.
