Yes. Yes it will.
Maybe CCP adds other invasions/incursions from other factions to balance it out? I dunno, would make sense, but the RP focus is Sansha.

Its gonna suck for a bunch if does mess up standings. The new BPC should be available for LP to sansha mission runners too if that is the case.

Logically, shooting Sansha should have a negative impact on your Sansha standings. I expect this will be the case with Incursions and I would be very surprised if it wasn't.
That being said, every account has three character slots: you probably have at least one that isn't dedicated to furthering the Sansha - use that. If you're using all your characters in a pro-Sansha role then maybe you're out of luck - there are supposed to be consequences to working for a faction and for you this may be one of them.

The likely popularity of these events with the content-starved PVE population will most likely cause you to be blackscreen lagged out just trying to the load grid before it's all over. Your standings will be fine.
That fix will still be 12 or so months out at that point.

the article mentioned something of a hard limit to amount of pilots that could participate. they'll probably make try to make sure nobody lags out by designing it to be under some magic number.

40 max the article says. They're not going to limit an entire system to 40 players.
So you'll either have instances, and I can hear the sound of canceled accounts the moment CCP tries to ride that horse.
Or, you'll have lagged out systems. Remember what happened at the last "incursion"? Yeah, the server died..

I wouldnt pay attention to Stick Cult.
Shes a noob who makes stuff up.
I dont know if it will hurt your standings. There are some special npcs that dont hurt standings when you kill them.

Hopefully there's a different role for pro-Sansha players to fulfill. One which will enable pvp when the incursions are in low-sec or null-sec at least.

But... you can PvP in lowsec and null anytime you want.

Enable. i.e. encourage, facilitate. Low-sec and null-sec are often pretty empty and when there are fights it's frequently a blob/hotdrop. The incursions if done right could help create ~good fights~ instead of **** ones.
