Originally by: Robert Rumpletweezer I assume for a 750 dps Nighthawk you're factoring in drone damage and Fury Missiles?
Aren't Furies fairly expensive and fairly meh at shooting frigs?
661 DPS for a kin Fury NH + 99 Drone Thermal DPS. (4x CN BCUs, T2 Fury, Bay Loading Accelerator II rig, Rigor I rig, 5% implants.)
784 DPS for a kin Fury Tengu. (4x CN BCUs, T2 Fury, Bay Loading Accelerator II, 2xFlare I rigs, 5% implants.)
The drone DPS is reduced by some non-trivial amount for non-thermal weak targets, plus travel time, etc..
The NH cannot match the effective DPS of the Tengu.

The Golem is definitely the ship of choice for DPS, and it's ability to loot and salvage. Range is an issue though, so I use a pulsepoc to snipe missions that have rats which orbit too far out for the Golem to easily tractor the wrecks. Even with T2 ammo and no target painter, it one shots frigs and cruisers from twice the Golem's range. I have a lot of problems running stuff like The Blockade in the Golem, because of the crap capacitor, limited range, and oversized weapons. The Apoc solves all those problems, although I'm considering a Paladin once I finish Amarr BS 5. Seems like it's a waste of time though, since the Paladin wouldn't be able to salvage wrecks at that range any better than the Apoc.

I suggest you watch this video + all other videos of greengimp. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I37po3UeuBo For proof of the awesomeness that is the GOLEM. Yes thats a 1-2 salvo per BS ^^. Golem is just an ISK machine. But to realize this, you need lvl 4 skills or preferrably lvl 5. Its a long term investment but yes its a MONSTER ISK MACHINE.
Thats why its called a Marauder??? Cause it maroons NPCs?
But if you want to be lvl 4 pervert, go with Golem/tengu/CNR combo.

I don't think that "1-2" means what you think it means.

Yeah the Golem doesn't 1-2 volley BS in reality it actually does:
BS: 2-3 volleys, 4 on some of the 1mil+ BS BC: 1 volley cruisers: 1 volley, elite cruisers 2-3 volleys

Yes people do. Seeing as how the marauders were made specifically with PvE in mind it makes sense. They are also the highest isk/hr mission runners when it comes to highsec mission running.

Does no one take into account the defenders ? I did my fair share of lvl4's and i can state that most of the times there's a defender on every target. So...25% dps drop ?
Furthermore, why consider a golem pve specific ship? cause of the TB bonus?, 7 highs that actually translate in 8+3 higs, cause of all the double damage and stuff. 3 highs to do whatever and have the dps output to beat any other cald BS ? If it wasn't so expensive and skill intensive you'd see it more out there pew pew-ing itself in the killboards.

CNR every time 4 x CN BCUS + Damage Control 2 x CN Invulns, 1 x Specific, Pith X XL Booster, SBA, TP 7 x CN Cruise Launcher Handful of medium drones Faction Ammo Whatever rigs you want. CCC's for small amount of cap. Core Defence if you're a tard. Launcher rigs. Whatever.
Technique 1. Warp in. Sit still. Spam F1. Hit booster occasionally. Technique 2. Warp in. Slowboat to next acceleration gate. Spam F1. Hit booster occasionally.

Edited by: Rewind12 on 14/09/2010 10:04:31 Edited by: Rewind12 on 14/09/2010 10:04:08 I seem to be one the unlucky ones , as i allmost always get 1 cruise/torp shut down. Still, solo lvl4's i would recommend a golem even with my (apparent) attraction of npcs defenders, for the fact that it can save you alot of time with post op salvage/loot. Just pull everything in with 2 tbs loot all you want/can and salvage off the large wrecks as you only have 1 salvager there.
If you want to go straight trough though, CNR ftw, but this again is a decision based solely on my 1 defender per salve experience. Rather than 25% drop in dps, i'd rather have a 15ish% drop. If anyone wants to do the math though, ammo-wise , i'd go with the golem, seing as you get more bang per buck.
So : 1) Golem 2) CNR 3) whatever.
Bottom line? Lvl5's in a carrier seing as it could/would increase your isk/hour alot, and have a severe impact on the industry/market. More carebears heading for lowsec in their new fancy carriers = more "antrepreneurial" opportunities , huge price drop in faction items increased demand in cap ships etc.

Something else to take note of... a Tengu can be Alpha'd by just 2 gankers for your mods... a Golem will take several more.

about what brannon said is true. theres a guy in motsu who files a tempest
he scans mission tengus and if they have a decent enough set of gear he blows em up when they exit the station before they can activate anything. he has a ship nearby to pickup the pieces.
i have seen this guy lose 3-4 tempests in a day doing it. not seen him much lately .maybe hes training another alt to replace the old one guess or im just not entering/exiting when he;s - working-
