What're you doing living in Perth?
But really as someone from QLD, I can't talk. Only think I can suggest is make sure that Eve is the only thing using your internet. There are programs you can find which keep an eye on that kind of thing.

And Internode has by far the most professional, most technically competent, customer focus helpdesk out there... Sure, you pay a few bucks more, but it's about the only ISP that are willing to hunt down gaming latency issues for you... They are by far the best ISP for gamers in Australia...

Just had a look and they a waaayyy too expensive. But they do look good. I might have to speak with the Mrs. Also we have been with our ISP for six years and we have a good relationship with them - they waive lots of fees.
When I origially posted I thought mine was an isolated case but it seems we're all in the same boat over here...
If anyone in Perth are getting 200ms please let us know how you do it!

perth here. I use tpg and was getting around 400. Tried all sorts of things to get it lower. In the end it was the little box on the wall outside the house where the line comes in. Moisture had got in. Once it was changed i got a ping around 270 to 320 and no lag when running multiple clients. Not sure if it helps but only takes 2 mins to look flysafe mate

Can't find any box outside (I work from home) but this is a really, really old house and it's possible the phone wiring is dodgy. Might have to get someone to look at it.
Thanks for your input mate.

I've run Ping Plotter for a while and found that most of the speed issues originate between the signal leaving Oz and getting to London, i.e. as it leaves, or somewhere in the US, or when it leaves the US.
Not much can be done to improve that - I'm with IINet.
I miss the 20ms MMO days of living in London...but hey, you're right. Oz >>>> London...

Hi mate, I'm at gold coast and sometime i even got ping over 600. But that doesnt much affect in game. EVE is not like wow which need press button all the time and require very smooth network otherwise u cant pvp well. So accept the fact and enjoy it. I can not be living without making people dieing. |
