A Solution to Scammers

From the small time Jita scammers to the huge MD scams such as the recent Bad Bobby T4U incident. A sumple way to solve these happening again and again and again forever would be to mark the scammer's account as a scammer account. This would effect all the characters created or in that account? How is it possible to do this?? CCP has probably heard of the story of Pinocchio which we all heard as children. For those of you who haven't heard of i. Pinocchio is a fictional character that first appeared in 1883, in The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, and has since appeared in many adaptations of that story and others. Carved from a piece of pine by a woodcarver named Geppetto in a small Italian village, he was created as a wooden puppet, but dreamt of becoming a real boy. e But every time he lied his nose grew in an angle which formed when the legs are pointing in exactly opposite directions. The two legs then form a single straight line through the vertex of the angle. The measure of a flat angle is thus always 180¦ in this case leg means nose. So eveerytime a character is found to be a scammer his nose should be modified accourdingly serving as an everlasting mark of shame to his account forever for all of his character. And the only way for it to shrink is for the sammer to tell the truth. This could be easily implemented by the new technology invented in Incarna in which 3d character will be introduced.

Arvano	Posted - 2010.09.07 10:20:00 - [7] If scammers are such a problem how come I've been playing this game for over a year, came in to it with no friends, had no contacts, no help aside from tutorial and snippets from the rookie channel, and learned everything myself and from readong the forum, and have NEVER been scammed, and have ALWAYS spotted scams when people have tried to pull them on me? Including ones that people seem to fall for, which I instantly noticed were scams? Scammers aren't a problem, the only problem is that people fall for them.

If I bought 6 PLEX's to sell, I'd put them on the market for .01 less than the going price and keep adjusting it as it naturally goes down when someone else puts one in. Or set up 3 contracts for 2 PLEX's each, or respond to contracts for 2 PLEX's after checking, double checking and triple checking that the price they're paying for 2 PLEX's is 660m, and not 660,000 credits. I do feel bad for them that they got scammed, but they make it really hard to feel sympathy.

They've got their plexes, so the money was correctly converted. Once it becomes plex, and you decide to sell it, then you've bought isk. And if isk gets stolen, whose fault is it? It's like going to losec with a newly bought Faction battleship and getting it boomed. You lost real money, cuz that thing was worth 600millions = roughly 2 plexes? Nope, you lost 600 millions isk. Tough luck. WoW is THAT way.

If you recently got scammed (my guess on why you created this thread) then suck it up. I lost isk playing the market before I figured things out. Same thing with scamming. You will learn to identify legit contracts and feel good about this knowledge afterwards. It's called gaining experience. btw what did a sammer ever do to you? Leave them alone.

Most scams are stupidly easy to avoid, and those that aren't have earned their right to absconder with your ISK. People who fall for the former category can't be helped ù you cannot "solve" human stupidity. I think scammers play an important part in EVE. After all, the victims are only the victims to their own foolishness. Investing billions into a fund in a market where there's no compliance to any standards is only asking themselves to be ***ed eventually. But most importantly, the lesson the "victims" learn will carry on in real life. If they are foolish enough to be scammed in EVE Online, obviously they have the same mentality in real life. It will teach them a life-long lesson.

Personally, I feel that if scammers were not allowed in Eve, it would take something away from the game. However, I think that chat spamming in local should be a temp to perm ban offense as it adds to our ever growing lag problem. Scamming by itself, contract or chat, does add flavor to the game. ... and if you take that away, where do you stop? Should we come up with in game mechanics to prevent an unbalanced fight? Such as a warning pops up in local 2 minutes before a cyno field appears to "prepare" the defending side. Think about it. The defending side has a huge potential to loose billions in ISK. That's valued at a little over $50 per billion because some of these folks in nullsec purchased time codes to convert to PLEX for ISK. In both examples, the player KNOWS the risk. Players know about scamming. Players also know about the risks associated with living in 0.0. CCP even added a pop-up window appear asking you to double check the price even having it spelled out for you as a form of verification for contracts. Also, to correct you, scammers are not and will never be a big problem. They are both allowed and endorsed by CCP. It is part of the game. Contact scams are extremely easy to avoid and why anyone even listens to local chat in Jita anymore is beyond me. ~~ Tethraa KaiSuun

No..most of them are alts because they dont want to be held accountable for their actions on their main.They know they are hated by everyone.Get rid of alts and you lose the scammers..very simple.But it wont happen because its "working as intended". Ok guess that could be misunderstood...If you mark all toons on that account they will just make another..or use a trail is what im saying.You wont get rid of them that easy..its like gum under your shoe.

I agree with this guy as well. Scammers should get elongated nose while the foolish victims get punished as well. I think removing the character's clothes is a sound choice. More ISK you lose, more ragged your clothing will be, until you are stripped naked. I know this will never happen, but just having fun.
