You know, considering the POS expense issue, I think one thing that makes it hard to strike a balance between "POS for everyone and his brother" and "POS only for those who have infinite pocketbooks" is that so many people in the game are so damn rich that you either have almost no POS or 0.0 becomes filled with them.

I didn't read the whole thread but can say this from first hand experience: I was introduced to Eve by a real life friend. He had played for about 2 weeks and got me interested enough to play. As soon as EQ2 came out he left for that game. Since that time and now he has gotten frustrated with EQ2 because (basically) it's a new undeveloped game and it has so many flaws. He keeps saying how he wishes this or that was the same in EQ2 as it was in EVE. His only reasoning for not leaving EQ2 and coming back to EVE is is substantial investment to that game. He's ranked #3 on his server for $$ and #1 for assett possession. He said that if he sold out his assets he would have roughly 20plat wich would sell on Ebay for over $4,000.00. He can't turn his back on a character he put so much effort into. So I can say that the other MMO's have taken a slice of EVE/Exedous.

Actually the numbers are dwindling because more and more people spend more time reading and posting in these forums then actually playing the game...
...just a thought :) |

I've been playing EVE for about four months now and there's one major thing that just drives me nuts...the Agent mission offer. Who in their right mind will travel between eight and twenty plus jumps to run a 'story-line' mission to kill three rats for some crap payout that can be done by running a single mission for the agent you normally use and melting the loot to sell it in under one-fifth the time it would take to get to said agent mission offer? At least make travelling that far worth it.
As for other annoyances...loot drops. Sure they fixed it so more loot drops but picking up three or four medium hull/armor repairers per mission? Gimmie a break. The 100 rounds of small ammo rounds helps too...How about a random name drop of actually weaponry? The only named loot I ever get is webbers. I've got about ten named webbers. Who the heck wants ten named webbers? I would be nice for CCP to stop throwing all the bones to the 0.0 people.
I do get the fact they're gonna get most of the benefits because they take 'more risk' being out where they are and that's cool I don't mind it so I won't whine about that fact. I would like to see those of us who chose to live in Empire space actually get a few things that those who live in low sec space don't. Yes we get the whole 'protection' of living in Empire space but they're seems to be a huge loophole in it that's getting exploited to a very large degree that nullifies the security rating system that's been implemented.
Someone said earlier in the thread that 2005 would be the telling year for EVE. I agree with that but for a different reason. I think it will be a year that will show whether or not CCP listens to its gamers a bit and goes to a level no game has reached before. The PvP system is good enough it can be left alone for a single patch/add-on. Some of you may disagree saying that's all this game is and to just 'deal with it' and stop whining but the fact of the matter is this game isn't just for PvP. Water ain't just for swimming is it?
I think that CCP should take a serious look at PvE and make it beneficial to both PvP and PvE players. Give those who run agent missions and like to run agent missions more reason to do so. Don't feed them a small bone while giving the bigger bones to the PvP'rs. Give them a serious reason. Maybe a massive storyline like an actual war between two Empires. Heck the Gallente and Caldari still hate each other. Who wouldn't want to see NPC's from either side fighting and having the option to join in and take them on via an agent or something like that? Seeing massive player run fleets taking on a huge NPC Gallente or Caldari fleet? Sure it might take some work but think about the possibilities in that scenario.
As for mining...well...mining will always be mining. It needs work, the randomization needs work and frankly there are many adjustments that could be made.
Those are my thoughts on this matter at least that I can think of right now.

As everyone said a lot of people are on holidays. Also some others trying new games. That's natural. It's a game and you can look around to see if something else. This doesn't mean automaticaly that EVE-Exodus is crap and people are leaving. For example I know quite a few people who found the time and get the SWG along with it's space expansion and give it a try.
I don't think that will effect any of the game base. The numbers are going up and that's the good thing. About the double account from the 200 people I know in the game only 1 has 2.
Happy New Year :)

Eve is lacking in the instant action factor that is available in WoW people like to get together and fight a Big Bad Dragon, they like to whine about who stole their uber loot and so on. They have the means there is an evil race of cyborgs in EvE or there use to be hehe. 0.o It's not you... no wait it is you. |

I've been in eve for some time now. Not a veteran, but still doing 2 account since may last year. Exodus did not expand my gameplay, it made my core jobs of agent running and market dealing harder. The patch came for free, but with too many parts not finished. I am encountering bugs I've never seen before like mising stuff, when taking stuff from can in space, mission rewards being more bugged than normal etc, etc. A patch not finished is something I've dealt with before due to the reason of being in online games since 92 (MUD), but for me it felt like the end, this felt like the end of eve. I hope that the game has a long life. The game has a unmatched player economy and some good politics going, but thats not what I play for. I've checked the ending date on my accounts and will proberly not extent.
EVE - Long may you run, but not with me. Zar
